Chapter 104 - Chapter 32 Warlord

" Is it alright? We are having another war after a big battle. Wouldn't this take a toll on your people?"

Magnus folded his arms with a calm face while looking at Uther who was gazing outside the window. His face was filled with various expressions but in his heart one thing was certain.

" We need a war to sustain our territory. Relying on our current output will risk everything that we have planned, brother."

Magnus didn't deny it, knowing they already planned this before the war but he thought Uther was having his movements too much for his people needed rest. However, the possibility of the crown intervention was still there.

Even though they met the young knights in bright attire, Uther couldn't help but frown at their intention since they sent only 2 envoys. Especially they didn't seem to be that loyal to the crown or royalist.

" I understand. I will prepare my men after their departure, but don't think this would be the same as your rebellion battle. We will be fighting in the open field and we don't have that many resources to sustain the war long."

Uther didn't change his face at his remark, understanding this was the risk that he had to take. Rations and soldiers were one problem and the other thing was their strength and equipment difference.

" Cavalry will be best for us but we don't have many horses, Magnus. I think you need to go out for them.

I heard Wales has one of the best horses in their stables with great longbows in their armory."

Magnus rubbed his chin, thinking it might be feasible to ally with them but nothing came free in this world. Even more so if they were talking about weapons and horses which were the main lifeline of the army.

" I understand. I will rally myself there since Freyja has dealt with them before. However, you have to prepare for yourself for nobles are greedy."

Uther didn't say much to him, agreeing with him in silence. His calm blue eyes darted outside the window, calmly landing on the figure of the young teenage girl.

Meanwhile in the courtyard.

" Wait for me, Halfdan. I haven't finished the ribbon yet."

Morgana held a beautiful ribbon made of flowers to him as she shyly placed it on his sword to tie it. Halfdan didn't move an inch from his place, not minding the curious glares from his new friends because he already accepted her as his family.

" Sister, why are you courting him? Shouldn't men be supposed to court us?"

Guinevere didn't think this was right but Morgana didn't answer to her for she believed in her instincts. She never conveyed her love through words. It was all about actions and she truly believed Halfdan deserved it.

" Father said we might go into another battle, Morgana. I want you to stay here and look after our people because you are the smartest woman in this territory after my mother."

Morgana didn't refuse his request since she felt appreciation for his words. Although he was the greatest talent in the territory, he was never good at relationships between the male and the female.

" Don't worry. When will you come back? Are they going with you?"

She whispered gently, looking at the silhouettes of her friends with a hint of worry. Obviously, the males were going to the war except Lancelot who wasn't in their group.

His blue eyes landed on her beautiful face, conveying his words in silence as the duo kept looking at each other.

Maybe this rebellion might have pushed their feelings toward each other and maybe this was their fate. But one thing was sure and that was Halfdan's will.

" I won't be defeated. I will return to my home with glory and treasure."

Losing one battle was more than enough for him. He would never lose in his life until his last breath and that was his convection.

" May God guide you. Just tell me before your departure. I will bake you some warm potatoes with honey milk."

A simple meal was more than enough to melt any warrior's heart. Hence, Halfdan agreed without thinking anything because he loved eating warm potatoes.
