Chapter 73 - Chapter 6 The Gate

" Forget about it for now. What we have to do now is to create chaos. So, do you have any plan?"

Halfdan asked his friends while looking for the guards who might be around the vicinity. Fortunately, it was a diluted area where they wouldn't go and nothing single silhouette of them was there which was a great thing.

" Fire. We will start a fire and run for the gate. The guards wouldn't suspect us because they would be fighting a fire."

Arne pulled out a cloth from his pocket while picking up the rock from the ground. He tore the cloth in half, putting some grass in the middle to make it more combustible. The dead grass would make fire fuel for this and this area was a great place to start a fire.

" But how will we warn people? Are you going to burn these people alive?"

Harold asked with doubt in his tone, believing it was a cruel thing to do. There was no way that all people would escape from the fire if they started in a residential area.

" Of course not. Are you a fool? If my hunch is right, there should be an abandoned area near here since most of the slums had such places or we could find a place where there would be a moderate amount of people."

Halfdan agreed with his plan while pondering with a serious gaze. He reached into his pocket, pulling out some flint that he used most of the time when he started a fire.

" We will burn the edge of the area where the population is scarce. During the fire, we would flee to the gate and take control of it while the guard would be busy around the fire. Then our cavalry will enter the castle and make a way for our other units."

Trio reached an agreement for tactics, making their way to the silent area where they found a suitable place to burn. It was an old house with no sign of living and the crumbled and dried woods were perfect for the fire. Moreover, it was close to the next house which was also abandoned, so the people would most likely notice this.

Therefore, Halfdan plucked some dead grasses from the ground with some branches, placing them near the area.

" Did you place the thing?"

Halfdan asked Arne with a calm face while covering his face with some simple cloth to blur it out.

" Done. How will we start a fire now?"

Halfdan pulled out a bow from his back while loading it with an arrow. He broke the tip of the arrow with his palm, rolling it with some leaves on the ground.

" Usually area like this would have materials that could be used as fuel for the fire. For example: dried feces of animals were excellent fuel for fire and an area like this would have one around the corner. Bingo!

This cow shit is good as charcoal and burn for a long time."

He rubbed some of them on the cloth while throwing the remaining thing near the cloth. He then hit two flints together, creating a spark from it while blowing the arrow with a gentle wind.

The flame gently lit up under the cover of them, slowly dwindling on the arrow while Halfdan aimed. His eyes narrowed at the sight of the house as he took a deep breath.

" The arrow shouldn't be found if I hit it from the above."

He raised the bow to the ceiling of the house, slowly tilting it to the left side because arrows don't travel straight like bullets. Because of their flexibility, they would travel like a snake in a zig zag manner and were often misunderstood with bolts or bullets when it came to their mechanics.

" Bullseye!"

The arrow hit the cloth instantly, gently spreading the deadly fire that would soon engulf the entire area. The glow of fire reflected on their eyes as the trio quickly ran toward the gate, knowing it would grow bigger soon and they were right.

In a span of a few moments, the baby flame roared like a furious dragon while devouring the entire house in a flash. The next-door house was also set ablaze from the fire, creating a giant smoke in the sky.
