Mir walked out of the duelling arena fully garbed in his combat gear. Lemi hadn't had the opportunity to take the regional competition standard armor back from Mir. He couldn't just leave it here!
Just as he had suspected, the open field outside the arena was filled with people, probably more than a couple hundred students and dozens of faculty members. Mir even noticed some outsiders holding professional cameras and interviewing people. The principal himself had several microphones thrust near his face every time he opened his mouth to communicate with the crowd.
The Lightfoot family was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps they had forced their way out, relying on their bodyguards. For Mir, that was not really an option, not when nearly every pair of eyes in the field froze on his figure and half the crowd swarmed the mouth of the exit the moment he stepped outside. The teacher who had been guarding the door didn't stand a chance of warding them off.
