Mir slid down the wall, landed in knee-deep water right behind Vin, and stabbed the needle of his syringe through a gap in the python's alloy-covered skin. The needle sank smoothly, finding soft flesh in its trajectory, and the snakehead let out a gut-wrenching hiss while struggling in Vin's grips.
As he was increasing the pressure on the plunger with his thumb, the python's thick tail shot out of the water like a whip, smashing into his arm.
The sound emitted in that collision wasn't loud, but Mir distinctly heard his elbow joint creaking. The syringe flew out of his grip and sank into the water while Mir clutched his arm and howled in pain.
Vin took the opportunity as the python was distracted, flexibly pulling out his right arm from under its coil and driving the bone drill into its lower jaw this time. The snake let out a strangled, hoarse, hiss and tried to untangle itself from Vin's torso, finally feeling fear.
