Chapter 17 - Chapter 9: Official Launch of the World Invasion Event (1)

Sagittarius, unaware that he was once again bound to Melon-chan.

He was analyzing, "The advantage of a submarine is that it can dive deep and disappear. In this game world, we don't even have sonar to detect underwater like the surface battle ships in the current world." Glancing at his own warship, built of wood, he could only shake his head at the vast technological differences.

He turned to Mina and said, "Encircle and push the five submarines as close to the shore as possible, so they can't escape to the deep water!"

After finishing his analysis, Sagittarius added, "With such different technologies, we don't need to worry about whether we can salvage the wrecks for items... Attack without restraint, win first!" Following that, the ship's communications officer waved the flag, commencing the encirclement.

Sagittarius did not just gather forces for land battles, but almost the entire naval fleet from the city of Chandra was brought forth.

If one were to zoom out continuously, they would see hundreds of large warships moving in a formation resembling bird wings, preparing to encircle Crystal Island.

The PR manager was so stunned that he was left with his mouth agape.

He turned to look at the screen of Winter Solstice's army from the city of Akra, which was setting up defenses on the city walls.

He turned to look at the screen of the Mewku Mewku player army, that was similar to Sagittarius being attacked by submarines, but the difference was that it was a large continental bay. She was defending on the beach.

All four of the remaining great metropolis lords were defending, only this furious guy, was not defending!

He knew that amongst all the lords, this one had the largest fleet because his territory had the most islets and reefs. But to flaunt military power against an enemy one has never faced before, would that be wise?

Not even a bit cautious?!

After recovering from the shock, the PR manager returned to his duties as an employee of MGC, making profits for the company. He couldn't take his eyes off the screen showing Sagittarius. The remaining four cities seemed definitely defensible. But if Sajitarius were to lose, this time he would cut the losing part and add it extensively into the second Teaser. He guaranteed it would become a trending topic, promoting this event effectively.

But he underestimated the military tactics of Sagittarius too much.

Strategy is a combination of the characteristics of the forces, terrain, climate, conditions, time and day.

It is a science that can change at any time.

This time was no exception. Sagittarius took the opportunity when the submarines had to send reinforcements to the coast to attack the players, surrounding them and preventing them from diving deep.

Sagittarius saw that all five submarines were aware and were turning back to fight him, but they were still on the surface, unable to submerge. So, he turned to Mina.

He smiled, and Mina also smiled; she could guess what her master was thinking, but she waited for her master to say it out loud.

"Heh heh, since this here is a game world, ordinary people in the real world probably couldn't do it... Call everyone who has armor-piercing skills. I'm dying to know whether hundreds of people with skills are cooler or submarine armor is cooler!" Who in the real world could possibly use both hands and a cold weapon to puncture a submarine?

Mina responded, and Sagittarius added, "If it were the real world, after piercing, smoke signals would be lit and launched, guaranteeing they'd run out of air to breathe on the entire ship. But again, this is a game world, so we'll have to adapt a bit... Did you bring it or not?"

Mina smiled knowingly and replied again, "I don't have any information about Dwarf, I don't know how to deal with it. So I brought every item I could, Sir. What kind of throw items do you need?"

"Hmm, Mina spoke up. I also don't know if Dwarf will be susceptible to gas, anesthetic, sleeping agents, poison, or even perfume, nor do I know their level of resistance. Therefore... once we pierce it, just toss everything in!"

The five submarines were too close to the shore, too shallow, which made it impossible for them to go underwater. Moreover, they couldn't move anywhere either. But it didn't matter, they still had

torpedoes!

Warships made of wood could never withstand torpedoes.

A series of explosions caused many ships to sink, but Sagittarius wasn't worried because once their ships sank... they would sink down and automatically become a barrier blocking the escape route for the submarines!

Sagittarius was taking a risk. He had gone this far because he wanted those five submarines. Even if they were wrecks, he had to obtain them.

If You hit monster, it will drop item. If you attack city, it will get treasures from attacking city and even get items owned by people from attacking them, then attacking Dwarf,

must get submarines!

Not just submarines, he also wants to take the tanks and Gundam on land as well!

Even if they are second-hand, it's okay!

A hint of disapproving expression showed on the default face of Sagittarius, until Mina had to cough slightly. That's when he became aware and returned to his normal self, glancing at hundreds of soldiers climbing onto the five floating submarines, about to start "drilling." He laughed and said,

"If the AI Dwarf controlling all five of those submarines could curse me out, it probably would have by now."

Mina chuckled quietly, pointing towards the shore where there was a chaotic group of fighting players at the front line, the iron soldiers were in the middle, and at the rear were the heavy magic guns, firing basic spells of all four elements every second, supporting and propelling the draft army towards the end of the beach.

"According to calculations, the other side won't last more than thirty minutes before being completely destroyed. Unless the system sets an option for the AI to surrender, it would take even less time."

Sagittarius replied, "It was just a small greeting from the other side, so they only sent five ships. No additional support was sent continuously. If it was to send reinforcements all the time... any city lord would be doomed." As his speech ended, after many attempts at drilling, Sagittarius finally saw a hole form and he quickly shouted orders to his soldiers,

"fire in the hole!!"

Then, the submarine that was smoked stopped torpedoing his fleet. Sagittarius turned to look at the formation and saw two warships escape from being torpedoed. He immediately ordered to send a signal flag, instructing both ships to approach the submarine.

"With so much thrown in, with poison and anesthetics, everything that the smoke impacts, the Dwarfs must flee the smoke through the upper hatch of the submarine. Command the two ships to go capture them. Let's see if the system can set the Dwarfs to be taken as prisoners of war or not."

Melon-chan went rampaging through without restraint.

Boom!!!

She spun in the air a dozen times, a feat impossible in the real world, then landed and stood up, retreating from the blast.

She had just managed to take down a golem. The golem collapsed, and then a Dwarf crept out from behind it. Its HP depleted, it disintegrated and vanished. Strange items dropped out.

Level up!

"Even better than entering a dungeon!" Now, she was at level 52, and her war lord level had easily gone up to 5.

As she was about to push forward, a system message popped up, causing her to pause.

[General Dwarf Rommal, the leader of the attack on Crystal Island, surrenders.]

[The confrontation between Metropolis of Chandra and Empire of Dwarf has temporarily subsided.]

The remaining players who had heard such a thing all cheered and shouted for joy at the odd drops from the Golem tank that they had managed to vanquish. They leveled up without having to enter a dungeon, and there was no telling if they might even be featured in today's news clips about the Dwarf empire's invasion.

Bang!

Triple luck, because it's a genuine Melon!

Melon sighed loudly, "Hoo," and then looked towards the five submarines. She saw the dwarves gradually coming out, with their hands crossed above their heads in surrender. Only then did she allow herself a smile. "With this, it's like I've helped them once."

She was always worried about how to find good quests that even someone of the status of a city lord in a great metropolis couldn't find, and how to give them to him to repay his kindness. But now,

"Hehe, no need to look for them anymore."

A week has passed,

Teasers for both parts of the event have been released and have immediately become a hot topic in society.

For this event, there is also a real-world launch day, just like the opening day of the MGC championship e-sport every year.

It might have been different from movie award ceremonies or television media events with the red carpet and evening gowns.

The tradition for game event launches has always been that attendees only need to dress neatly in comfortable attire. However, even though the event is not very ceremonial, it still gathers the industry's leading figures from nearly all over the world. Nonetheless, it must be organized fittingly with grandeur, to the extent of booking an entire luxurious theater just for the occasion.

The launch event was held in a large cinema on a Los Angeles, California evening.

"As is normal for a world-class event, before entering the venue, it's certain that there will be a massive media presence waiting to interview the attendees.

While the CEO of MGC Online had just stepped out of the car, not even taking a step forward, journalists swarmed him.

"Mr. Butter, organizing an event where NPCs harass players like this, will it receive support?"

Although faced with a negative question, CEO Butter still smiled without changing his expression. He adjusted his white suit and calmly said, 'In today's launch event, it will be officially announced that this event is organized to open a new area in the game, which is the Dwarf Empire. As for the NPCs harassing players, to be precise, it's all the monsters across the map that are set to harass players, but the Dwarf NPCs do not harass. In fact, the system where NPCs attack players has existed for a long time; it's a system where NPC land lord attack player land lord if the player's lord is weak. This is considered a main quest for land lord that must be completed. This time, we have upgraded it so that the Dwarf NPCs have the objective to take over the entire surface world of Midgard.'"

"Is that all? Doesn't that mean this world will no longer be a human world!!!" the female reporter exclaimed.

CEO Butter quickly waved his hand with a smile. "Don't get too caught up in the game. Let me explain it this way: In the World Invasion: The Empire of Dwarf project, when the dwarf tribe invades and captures a city, it works similarly to when an NPC city lord from the system captures a player's city. That player will fail the quest, but the shops and establishments within the city will remain. Employees working in companies within the captured city will continue their work as usual. Players can still enter the city, but the ruler will change from a human to a dwarf."

Another male reporter pointed a microphone and asked, "From the Teaser I saw, the dwarf NPCs seem to use some real-world technologies. Doesn't that make the NPCs a bit overpowered? Couldn't this event lead to all players losing and every city becoming dominated by dwarves?"
