"You're studying souls?" Andy asked.
But that made sense.
Snape was a love-struck man, and since the woman he secretly loved had died, he naturally wanted to study souls.
Not only that, Snape had always been a dark wizard and had even joined the Death Eaters. As Voldemort's lackey, Snape naturally had studied souls.
Studying souls was part of dark magic.
"Souls are very special..."
Snape said slowly, "The body decays, but the soul can exist in the world as a ghost. Where does the soul go after death? To hell? Or to heaven?"
"Legend has it that both hell and heaven are the realms of gods, and those gods...they, why would they need human souls?"
Andy listened intently.
Hell and heaven!
If those places were just myths and legends, it would be fine, but the archway in the Dead Chamber and the souls of the dead summoned by the Resurrection Stone... they all prove one thing.
After humans die, their souls have a place to go!
What is behind the curtain?
The legendary hell?
Why do the souls of humans go there after death?
Andy has never really considered this question before.
"So... what is so special about the soul?" Andy asked curiously.
"I don't know!"
Snape said mysteriously. "If we explain it in terms of dark magic, the soul controls everything about us. Your thoughts, emotions, feelings... they all come from the soul."
"If what behind the curtain is the dimension of Death, then it also means that the soul can reach other dimensions."
Snape's explanation coincided with Andy's previous thoughts.
The soul can live forever and can also reach other dimensions.
The Western legend of the Dimensional Being, and the Eastern legend of the Immortal Ascension. These legends all involve abandoning the physical body and allowing the soul to reach a higher dimension.
Then there are the legends and stories related to the soul.
Legend has it that the devils in hell will trade with humans, and they will help humans fulfil some wishes. In return, humans need to pay with their souls.
Andy discovered that not only are human souls very special, but they also have many functions.
Legend has it that both hell and heaven need human souls.
"I've studied legends a bit,"
Andy said with a frown. "The legends that have been passed down to the present day have all been changed more or less due to political factors or geographical and cultural factors."
"There are also legends that were originally about ordinary people, but were later mythologised by later generations due to some other factors."
"But those real legends... no matter how the stories change, their essence will never change."
Just like the world behind that curtain.
No matter what you call it, that world is the final resting place for the Dead.
"If there is a place like hell in this world...then with so many people having died throughout the ages, with so many souls, can hell hold them all?"
Andy looked at Snape and suddenly asked, "Professor, have you...have you ever asked how she lives in that world?"
Snape slowly shook his head, "I haven't!"
After a pause, Snape suddenly lowered his face and said coldly, "Collins, if you don't have anything else..."
After saying that, Snape glanced in the direction of the door, and the meaning of sending a guest away was already very clear.
"Okay!"
Shrugging his shoulders, Andy stood up from his chair, "Today's conversation was very enjoyable. Professor, we'll talk again next time."
After leaving the underground floor, Andy suddenly let out a long breath.
Some things are really terrifying when you think about them.
Humans, souls, hell...
Andy had once pondered this question:
The online world is made up of digital code, and the real world is made up of atoms.
Humans have created the online world using digital code.
So...could there be higher dimensional beings who have created the 'real world' from our perspective using atoms as a form of digital code?
Is this possible?
Andy didn't dare to think about it.
But if you speculate from this perspective...
Human bodies are made up of atoms, but human souls... maybe souls don't belong to any atoms.
So the soul is special!
If the soul isn't made up of atoms, then the soul doesn't belong to this world made up of atoms.
So the soul can live forever and go to other dimensions!
Magic!
If a spell is compared to a cheat code in the real world, Andy feels that magic... maybe it's a virus program in the real world!
As he pondered this, Andy had already reached the Great Hall.
"Hey, Andy, what's wrong?" Hermione waved her hand in front of Andy's face.
"Huh? Hermione," Andy came back to his senses.
"What did Professor Snape do to you?"
Hermione asked curiously. "You haven't been acting normal since you got back."
"We talked about magic..."
Andy looked at Hermione and asked, "Hermione, do you know about atoms?"
Hermione said with a surprised expression, "Of course I know! Scientists in the Muggle world believe that the world is made up of atoms. I used to believe in science too, but now I'm a witch..."
Having said that, Hermione was still a little conflicted.
After all, in the world of science, magic shouldn't exist!
"I've studied a lot of Muggle knowledge."
Andy looked around, and after noticing that no one was paying attention, he whispered, "Muggles invented the computer and created the online world with codes."
Hermione nodded, "I even took computer classes!"
Andy shared his theory, "The online world is made of code, and the real world is made of atoms... Do you think that the so-called atoms might be the code of higher dimensional beings?"
Hermione's face looked strange, "Andy, you're a wizard, and you still believe in science?"
"But... your theory isn't without reason. Scientists have indeed speculated this theory before."
Having said that, Hermione's face also became more serious.
She looked at Andy, wanting to hear what the wizard had to say about the scientist's theory.
Andy continued, "According to this theory...a spell is a code instruction that manipulates the real world."
"Imagine if we really had the source code for the real world, then we could really make anything happen."
Hermione thought about Andy's theory for a moment.
"Andy, you think spells are code instructions that manipulate the real world?"
Hermione thought back to what she had learned about computers. To manipulate a computer, you just need to press a button and do whatever you want.
It really is a lot like magic.
"Although it is a bit unbelievable..."
Hermione said seriously, "But...they are really similar!"
