In the summer of 1899, Grindelwald travelled alone to Godric's Hollow to find clues to the Deathly Hallows and stayed temporarily at the home of his aunt, Mrs Bathilda Bagshot.
It was here he befriended Dumbledore.
The two talented young men quickly attracted to each other and became close friends.
They share the same philosophy and the same quest. They plan to find the Deathly Hallows and use it to lead the wizarding world, overthrow the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, and establish a global hierarchical order led by wizards - with wizards ruling over Muggles.
Hermione was stunned when Dumbledore spoke!
The young witch had never thought that Dumbledore would be so ambitious in his youth.
"Because of my frequent discussions with Grindelwald about our plans, I neglected my sister, much to the displeasure of my brother, Aberforth Dumbledore, who was also against our plans."
"They quarrel a lot."
Dumbledore said slowly, "One rainy night, the conflict between my brother and Grindelwald completely intensified, and they fought."
"To stop them from continuing to fight, I foolishly joined the fight."
"Just then ... just then, my sister suddenly came down the stairs. Then ... she was hit by a bolt of magic."
Andy: "..."
Needless to say, it was a tragedy.
But what made Andy puzzled was why Dumbledore suddenly said all this.
Getting the Resurrection Stone was indeed a good time to tell stories.
But no one asked him about these stories, and he didn't need to tell Andy and Hermione the stories of his youth.
The timing was right, but it didn't make sense.
With a look of sadness and sympathy on her face, Hermione looked at Dumbledore and asked cautiously, "Whose spell was it, Professor?"
"I don't know!" Dumbledore said.
Andy didn't say a word, but in his mind, the sirens had been set off.
Dumbledore continued, "After that night, Grindelwald fled Godric's Hollow, and I abandoned that plan - it would have cost many people their loved ones, and knowing that pain, I naturally didn't want anyone else to lose their loved ones as well."
As for the backstory, Andy and Hermione already knew it.
Grindelwald had carried out his and Dumbledore's plan alone and had ultimately lost in the hands of Dumbledore.
"Mr Collins, Miss Granger, the Resurrection Stone will be left with me for now. In a few days, I will have Fawkes deliver it to ..."
After a pause, Dumbledore turned his head to Andy, "Deliver it to Mr Collins' home."
"Of course, no problem," Andy said.
Although there were some regrets that he couldn't study the Resurrection Stone immediately, it was fine to lend it out for a few days.
"Oh! I forgot to congratulate you on destroying another one of Voldemort's ..." Dumbledore suddenly paused.
Hermione chimed in, "Horcruxes!"
"Yes, the Horcrux!"
Dumbledore wasn't surprised that Hermione knew about it, "Now that we've destroyed three Horcruxes, we're one step closer to defeating Voldemort."
"Have a nice holiday!"
After saying that, Dumbledore cast an Apparition and disappeared.
"Whew..."
The young witch was completely relieved, and began to accuse Andy, "Andy, you really shouldn't have said that."
"Alright, I was joking." Andy coaxed.
"You shouldn't say such a thing, even if you're joking."
Hermione said with a stern face, "And the fact that we let Professor Dumbledore hear us. Oh - and he also knows we killed the basilisk, which is Hogwarts property."
Andy had to correct Hermione, "The basilisk was the murderer, it killed Myrtle well over fifty years ago, and it was us who helped her get her revenge."
"And Dumbledore didn't say that the basilisk belonged to Hogwarts."
There was no way Andy was going to hand over the money from the sale of the basilisk.
Hermione gave Andy a helpless blank look, "Anyway, don't ever make that kind of joke again!"
"OK!" Andy immediately agreed.
"What do we do next?" Hermione asked.
"Want to wander around the village?"
Andy certainly didn't want to go home now, "Or do you want to go somewhere? Apparition always comes in handy at times like this."
"Well ..."
Hermione thought for a moment, "Want to stroll around the muggle world? It's not as magical as the wizarding world there, but the muggle technology is interesting."
"Maybe we could watch a film."
Actually, Andy wasn't interested in the 90s muggle world at all, but speaking of films ...
"Maybe you could show me around the arcade."
Andy said, "I've heard Harry say it many times, muggle games are fun to play."
An arcade, ah ...
Hermione was a little conflicted, she didn't think good kids should go to places like an arcade.
"Have you ever been there?" Seeing that Hermione was a bit hesitant, Andy immediately riled her up.
"Of course I've been there, I've been there many times." Hermione immediately said.
Granted, the games of this era were far less interesting than those of the twenty-first century, even World of Warcraft hadn't been developed yet. Yet even so, Andy hadn't played it in years.
He misses them a lot!
"Let's go!" Andy held out his arm, gesturing for Hermione to put her hand up.
Snap!
With a soft pop, Apparition was initiated.
"This ... is my home?" Hermione turned her head and looked around.
"I have to say, Apparition does come in handy."
Hermione exclaimed excitedly, "I can't wait to learn this spell. Andy, can you teach me in the third year?"
Andy raised an eyebrow, "Learning Apparition in advance, that's something that violates the Ministry of Magic's rules."
"You're the only one who doesn't have the right to talk about it like that." Hermione retorted.
Andy spread his hands, "Of course, it's perfectly fine to teach you. The Forbidden Forest doesn't restrict Apparition, and the Room of Requirement can turn into a room where you can Apparate as well."
"Then it's a deal!"
Hermione glanced at the clock hanging on the wall, "We can go for a quick lunch and then play all afternoon."
"How about KFC?" Andy suggested.
"You know about KFC?"
Hermione gave Andy a surprised look, then generously stated, "Eat whatever you want, it's on me!"
Andy didn't mind eating soft food.
It had been years since he had eaten KFC, and although the food in this era wasn't as diverse as it would be in a few decades, the flavour was still the same, and Andy ate with great satisfaction.
"Andy, I feel like you know a lot about the muggle world?" Hermione asked casually during the meal.
"That's for sure!"
Andy said as a matter of course, "I have a witch friend from the muggle world, so of course I need to know a little bit more about the muggle world, or else it would be a problem to even communicate."
"Like now, at least I won't be like other wizards, who only have a vague understanding of things around them."
"Thanks!" Hermione said, somewhat touched.
