Snape's countenance changed slightly, Dumbledore's words had certainly put him in a dilemma.
By doing nothing, Voldemort would suspect him. But by doing it, he would be inevitably 'exposed' on Dumbledore's side.
Besides, Snape didn't want to lead Harry out of Hogwarts.
What to do?
Glancing at Dumbledore, Snape quickly adjusted his mentality.
Since Dumbledore had already thought of this matter, he must have a solution.
Dumbledore looked at Snape, blinked, and said, "There have been attacks at Hogwarts for two consecutive years, and Malfoy has been contacting the other governors for the past two days, wanting to dismiss me from my position."
Snape: "..."
So that means not only you're going to use Lucius Malfoy to screw Voldemort over, you want that guy to take the fall for me?
What an old silver coin!
Lucius Malfoy wants to take down Dumbledore, so Dumbledore also notices Lucius Malfoy, which in turn leads to noticing Voldemort behind Lucius Malfoy, which conveniently disrupts Voldemort's resurrection plans.
This plot makes complete sense!
Lucius Malfoy was the only one who was unlucky.
Not only that, Snape had already reported to Dumbledore before that Lucius Malfoy was not loyal to Voldemort, he simply followed Voldemort's orders because he had to out of fear.
When this whole thing blows over ...
It would appear that Lucius Malfoy first sent Voldemort's Horcrux to Dumbledore, and then he sabotaged Voldemort's resurrection plan because he was not careful in what he did ...
When Voldemort was resurrected, it would be strange if he didn't kill him!
To live, Lucius Malfoy would have to turn to Dumbledore.
Hiss-
Snape took a deep breath, "I see! Anything else?"
"Good luck!" Dumbledore said.
Snape turned and left, he was going to go back and drink two vials of elixir of euphoria to calm his nerves.
Before, when he drank the elixir of euphoria, it was because he was angry with Dumbledore. Now he would drink the elixir of euphoria because he was frightened by Dumbledore.
Once this plan is successful, it could eliminate Snape's trouble and at the same time destroy Lucius Malfoy's plan against Dumbledore.
Most importantly, Dumbledore could also take the opportunity to control Lucius Malfoy.
Three birds with one stone!
Descending the stairs to the underground floor, Snape was met with a certain young wizard standing in front of his office waiting for him.
"Professor Snape, good evening!" Andy greeted with a big smile, trying to look like a third-year student.
Snape: "..."
OK! I just finished meeting with the old silver coin, and now I met the young silver coin. In a few days, I'll have to go and hang out with the middle-aged silver coin Voldemort.
Snape wondered if he should be looking for some African Tribe Shaman to do a good luck magic ritual.
"Andy Collins ..." Snape looked at Andy with a gloomy gaze.
"Hiss-" From three metres away, Andy could feel Snape's resentment.
Is this a resentment from being Dumbledore's follower?
"It's holiday season now! As your favourite student, I came over to say goodbye to you."
Andy said obediently, "During the dinner banquet, I saw you looking a bit under the weather, so I was concerned about your well-being."
"And I figured that you might not be available at Christmas, so I brought you your Christmas present early."
Snape looked at Andy gloomily.
A whole lot of nonsense and only the last sentence was somewhat relevant.
It wasn't that Snape wanted Andy's Christmas present, it was the sentence, You might not be available at Christmas.
Snape really wouldn't be available!
Click!
Snape opened the door to his office and looked back at Andy, "Come in!"
Andy followed Snape into the office.
There was no doubt that Snape wouldn't ask Andy to sit down, nor would he take out snacks and drinks to entertain Andy. If he wasn't being hindered by his status as a professor, he would have even wanted to strike Andy with a Cruciatus Curse, so that he would understand what is called cruelty.
Andy took out a vial of red liquid from his coat pocket, "A Christmas gift for you! This is the blood of a basilisk, a thousand-year-old basilisk. I went through a lot of trouble to get it."
A thousand-year-old basilisk?
Snape sneered at Andy, "If you weren't cheated, it must be due to your ignorance!"
In today's magic world, let alone a thousand-year-old basilisk, can you get me an ordinary basilisk to look at?
That's already a fairy-tale magical creature.
Breeding basilisk is against the law!
Andy smiled lightly and carefully twisted off the cap of the glass vial so that Snape could smell the flavour.
Snape stiffened!
As a potion master and also a former Death Eater, Snape had seen basilisk.
Although it was against the law to breed basilisks, dark wizards wouldn't care about that. As long as there was profit, there would always be people breeding basilisks. Basilisk blood can be bought on the black market, and its price is even higher than dragon's blood.
But this vial of basilisk blood ...
Snape dared to bet his name as a potion master and swore that this vial of basilisk blood definitely came from a thousand-year-old basilisk.
"Someone wrote to me before, saying that thousand-year basilisk blood appeared on the black market over in Europe ..."
Snape said while staring at Andy.
The more expensive the gift was, it meant that the more troublesome the matter Andy was looking for him would be.
As for the vial of basilisk blood, it was rather unimportant.
It was originally regarded as a fool's errand, but since the stuff appeared on the black market, Snape could always buy it if he wanted to.
Andy twisted the cap of the vial tightly, then placed the basilisk blood on the desk and said with a smile on his face, "A little token of appreciation from a student. As your favourite student, a vial of basilisk blood can't represent my reverence for you."
Snape nearly threw up.
You? Still, revere me?
I'm surprised you didn't try to screw me off!
Snape put the basilisk blood away before saying nonchalantly, "If there's nothing else, then go back to bed early! There's a ride in the morning."
You are playing the student role well! I could also play my role.
"On the contrary, there is one more thing ..."
Andy did not have the slightest intention of wanting to go back to sleep, but asked bluntly, "Professor, Hogwarts is hardly at peace, there won't be anything untoward in the next term, right?"
Snape looked at Andy, this kid really guessed something.
"... won't!" Snape said faintly.
"That's good!" Andy smiled.
Since it wouldn't affect his learning environment, then Andy didn't need to pursue it.
No matter how big the noise outside was, it had nothing to do with Andy.
Before he became a tall man, all Andy could do was mind his own business.
"In that case, then I won't disturb your rest, Professor." After saying that, Andy turned around and prepared to leave.
"Wait!"
Snape called out to Andy, and then with a wave of his wand, a tattered book flew into Snape's hand.
Tossing the book to Andy, Snape didn't say anything; just assumed a 'send off' stance.
***
About that Half-Blood Prince Potions book.
In the author's opinion, Snape put that book there on purpose so that he could improve Harry's Potions grades and get Harry closer to Slughorn.
The textbooks may be discarded at our leisure after graduation, but Snape's textbook not only contains the spells he developed personally but also his improved potion recipes.
Snape would certainly not discard such an important book carelessly.
