"Hmm?" Mr. Carbone froze at his words.
Although he is a magic spell master, he hadn't studied the Obscurus and Patronus Charm before, so he didn't understand what Flitwick meant for a moment.
Mind and Magic ... This is proper academic research, right?
Mr. Carbone looked at Flitwick with a puzzled expression, does this kind of research also require caution?
Flitwick sighed and explained, "Our control of emotions can be roughly categorized into two types, and once magic is involved ... no one can predict what kind of consequences will arise."
"Well ... Filius, I have to say that your worries are justified." Mr. Carbone quickly understood what Filius meant.
Human control over emotions could be roughly categorized into 'venting' and 'suppressing'.
From the perspective of magic, 'venting' emotions along with magic power forms spells. Using positive emotions would be white magic, and using negative emotions would be dark magic.
But once you 'suppress' magic by utilizing emotions ...
The result of using negative emotions to suppress magic power was already well known; which would turn magic into Obscurus.
In the history of the magic world, there has never been an example of an Obscurial living past the age of ten.
But are positive emotions always safe?
In Mr. Scamander's research, an Obscurus is a parasitic magical creature. In other words - an Obscurus has biological instincts; it is a type of magical creature.
Although Andy's fat cat Patronus also possessed a certain amount of spirituality, the Patronus charm was just a magic spell, so Andy was still able to control it.
But to have the magic completely turn into a magical creature, those were two very different concepts.
Because the instinct of creatures is to pursue freedom.
Although we can tame part of the creature, the result of taming failure ... that is obviously not something Andy can bear.
"In fact, now that I think about it, although Andy's Patronus possesses a certain degree of spirituality, it is actually similar to a portrait that has been injected with thoughts, and cannot be considered a true magical creature."
Mr. Carbone said with emotion, "Allowing the magic to completely turn into a magical creature ... honestly, in that case, the initiative would no longer be in our hands at all."
Flitwick sighed, "That's what I'm most worried about."
When a wizard infuses his mind with magic power, it is like infusing magic power with thoughts. The magic power has its own thoughts ... For a wizard, this is a very scary thing.
If the magic was stable, this kind of thing would never happen.
But Andy had the means to bring the magic back to its unstable state, he was capable of doing this.
Mr. Carbone said, "Actually, this situation right now is perfect. Filius, you should find some time to have a good talk with Collins."
"He hasn't thought about it yet, but he won't forever fail to think about it."
Just talking about negative emotions ...
Venting negative emotions along with magic power forms dark magic. By utilizing negative emotions to suppress magic, Obscurus will be created.
The Patronus Charm was considered a special kind of magic.
Andy is now obsessed with the research of the Patronus Charm, so he hadn't thought about this problem for the time being. But he only needed to return to the core of the problem, and he would immediately figure it all out.
"Carl, you don't understand!"
Flitwick was a bit distressed, "Collins is very passionate about the pursuit of magic, and he's very confident. To be honest, I'm a little worried about telling him."
"No, no, no!"
Mr Carbone said, "I'm on the opposite page from you, no one would trust their life to someone else, it's a biological instinct."
"Anyone who just understands that will never continue their research."
Flitwick sighed at that, he was still a little torn.
There was just something reassuring about that Andy Collins ... kid.
Mr. Carbone continued, "Filius, I know a lot of professors from the school, and I found a very interesting common trait in them, do you know what it is?"
"It's a caution! Dumbledore was like this as well."
"Maybe it's because you've seen so many unreliable young wizards that you'll always habitually assume that young wizards lack self-control."
"But we can't lump everyone together, there will always be some special individuals who will stand above the rest."
Flitwick took a sip of his wine and sighed, "Perhaps! But you have to understand, we're professors."
Mr. Carbone spread his hands.
With different identities, it was natural that the angle of thinking would be different.
Professors ... naturally can't be capricious when dealing with young wizards.
Mr. Carbone didn't continue this topic and turned to the matter of the thesis.
***
After eating dinner, Andy went to the Room of Requirement to practice his magic.
The fat cat Patronus flew by his side.
Patronus Charm - Andy hadn't practised this magic in a while.
"Speaking of which, ... why does the host die immediately after Obscurus detaches from the host? And when the host dies, Obscurus also disappears along with them."
Andy had never thought about this before.
But when Andy realized that magic might be related to life, Andy immediately thought of Obscurus.
In the terminology used on the Chinese side, magic power is the first innate air.
When the innate air disappears, the person naturally dies.
In other words, the Obscurial.
The magic power is the basic essence that constitutes everything in the world, and when this power is injected with the mind, it gives birth to autonomous mind power, thus evolving from 'energy' into a special kind of life.
Thinking like this, many problems could be explained.
Andy looked at his fat cat patronus and suddenly sighed with emotion, "Luckily, you're only a spell."
The fat cat patronus blinked in confusion.
Magic is the foundation that forms the basis of life, and when it possesses the power of the mind and evolves into a true life ...
Andy's magic will no longer belong to Andy.
'If I compare Obscurus to a child; when a child grows up, it will think about leaving its parents to live independently. But Obscurus and wizard are in a symbiotic relationship, so it will take away all of the wizard's life force.'
Andy was suddenly a bit thankful.
It was fortunate that he did not continue his research.
Moreover, according to this theory and continuing to analyse it, if magic power and innate air were the same kind of energy, then all people actually possess magic power.
It was just that the vast majority of people were unable to use it.
But there was another problem here.
'According to the Chinese counterpart, when the innate air disappears, a person will die. But wizards have always possessed magic power before they die a natural death.'
Unless ... magic power is born from the innate air.
Innate and acquired?
If that was the explanation, then it would make sense.
And there was another piece of evidence that could prove that magic power is related to the innate air.
In the magic world, the stronger the wizard's magic power is, the longer they will live.
