Chapter 128 - Chapter 128: Andy is desperate

Dumbledore thought hard for a moment, "The Patronus Charm is very ancient magic, the magic of that period was very different from the magic we have now, and the way it was recorded was different as well."

"You could say that the Patronus Charm actually evolved from ancient magic. As for its original effects ... I'm sorry, that was too long ago."

Flitwick sighed and nodded.

There was no record of it in the Hogwarts library, either; wands had already been invented when the Big Four founded Hogwarts.

The invention of the Patronus Charm, on the other hand, was a bit more ancient.

"Ancient magic?"

Flitwick frowned, if that was the case then it would be difficult to research.

Dumbledore continued, "Ancient magic is known for being powerful and difficult to control. If the magic gets out of control, the effects it causes may be similar to the effects of the magic accident."

"Young Collins does have a lot of ideas."

Flitwick said seriously, "It makes sense. If that's the case, the original Patronus Charm ... might have been Obscurus of White Magic."

Dumbledore nodded and said, "There is this possibility, it's just that we can no longer verify it."

Flitwick was somewhat disappointed at that.

Indeed, they could no longer verify it.

Ancient magic and modern magic were completely different, they were already used to using modern magic, while the ancient magic had been nearly lost.

It was improbable for them to purposely let the magic go out of control just to study the Patronus Charm, right?

What was the difference between that and committing suicide?

"Looks like that little guy is going to be disappointed." Flitwick sighed.

He kinda appreciated Andy.

Although Andy was extremely problematic, his love for magic was something that other young wizards couldn't surpass. Moreover, Andy's thinking about magic was also very in-depth, and many times he would go straight to the core of a spell.

Dumbledore did not say anything.

The question Andy raised was a bit over the top for today's magic world.

Even Dumbledore could not give a clear answer.

Obscurus ...

Dumbledore had indeed studied the Obscurus, but there had been little result.

If Dumbledore actually solved the mystery of the Obscurus, then his sister, his nephew, wouldn't have died.

"Albus, I'm going to the library."

Flitwick sighed, "If I can't find an answer in the library either, then I'll just have to persuade Collins to give up on this research."

Dumbledore nodded, then asked with a smile, "What did Collins ... that little guy research?"

Flitwick spread his hands and said, "It should still be in the stage of proposing ideas, right? He wrote to me and should be aiming to get certification from me."

"What a brilliant little wizard," Dumbledore exclaimed.

"Yes!" Flitwick nodded, then got up and left the Headmaster's office.

When Flitwick was gone, Dumbledore pulled open a desk drawer and took out a book from it, casually flipping to the chapter that introduced the Obscurus.

While looking at the words on it, Dumbledore's mind unconsciously recalled the battle he had with the Obscurus during his middle age.

It was his brother's son.

Aurelius Dumbledore.

Dumbledore's sister was an Obscurial, and he had begun studying about Obscurus at a very young age. But he still couldn't save his sister or his nephew.

Taking out his Pensieve, Dumbledore tapped his temple with his wand and pulled out a silver-white silk thread.

Putting the silver-white silk thread into the Pensieve, Dumbledore 'watched' the battle between himself and the Obscurial all over again.

"The Obscurial..."

The magic world had never lacked people who sought power.

When Andy first asked Dumbledore about the Obscurus, Dumbledore realized that Andy had already noticed the dark magic force known as the Obscurus.

Dumbledore would always give special attention to special children.

In fact, Dumbledore was relieved when he learned that Andy had focused his research on the Patronus Charm.

Dumbledore now only hoped that Andy's sister would not go through the same thing that his sister had gone through.

St. Catchpole's Village.

Andy sat in his study, debating whether to write another letter to Professor Flitwick, telling him that his magic power was in an unstable state at the moment.

Not that Andy was crazy.

Learning required discussion, and working behind closed doors was not advisable.

If Professor Flitwick is still at Hogwarts at this moment, then Andy discussing magic with Professor Flitwick is the same as discussing magic with Dumbledore.

This was a rare opportunity.

Especially, Andy had already achieved certain results.

In these three days, Andy had never stopped practising the Patronus Charm. As Andy cast the Patronus Charm over and over again, Andy's Fat Cat Patronus became more and more spiritual.

After all, Andy's magic attainments were limited, and it was difficult to judge what his patronus would eventually become by just guessing.

But Dumbledore might be able to.

Andy gritted his teeth.

What is there to be afraid of?

Even if Dumbledore knew, he wouldn't do anything to him.

Instead of hiding it and researching it alone, it would be better to discuss it with Dumbledore in a bold manner.

Besides, if Andy's research was successful, he would definitely use this magic in the future.

Dumbledore would know about it sooner or later.

As for the secret of unstable magic power ...

Talent, age, accidents, violent mood swings...Andy could find ten thousand reasons like this.

Most importantly, if he discussed magic through Flitwick, he wouldn't have to owe Dumbledore a favour.

Thinking of this, Andy took out his letter paper, dipped his quill into the ink, and began to write.

Dear Professor Flitwick:

I am very happy to receive your reply, and I am also glad that you can approve of my ideas.

As a matter of fact, I have made some progress in my research.

I utilized a certain method to make my magic power into an unstable state, and by casting the Patronus Charm in this state, my Patronus seems to possess some degree of animation.

It seemed like it was coming to life.

I think that unstable magic might be able to integrate the emotions of a wizard ...

Andy wrote a large number of words, informing Professor Flitwick of his current research results and state, one by one.

Of course, Andy's main purpose was to convey this matter to Dumbledore through Professor Flitwick's mouth.

"I also wonder what would Headmaster Dumbledore think?" Andy was looking forward to it.

Handing the letter to his family's owl, Andy stroked the owl's big head, "Please. When you come back, I'll treat you to a big meal."

Gu Gu!

Watching the owl 'minion' fly into the sky, Andy's eyes were deep. This letter, pinned down his future.
