Chapter 114 - Chapter 114 The Difficulty of the Patronus Charm

April, May, June ...

Time passed in a flash, and in the blink of an eye, it was getting closer and closer to the final exams.

In these few months, Andy lived a very peaceful life.

Except for his birthday on April 16th, when Andy sneaked off to Hogsmeade to throw a birthday party, he had never done anything out of the ordinary.

Even the restricted section, Andy hadn't been there again.

After all, peeking at Secrets of the Darkest Art in the Headmaster's office was not considered a good choice, and Andy didn't want to be caught by Dumbledore again.

If there was something else to be happy about in these months, it might be the fact that the system's potential points were once again saved up to [5] points, allowing Andy to add the [Mind] talent to [5] level.

Mind power was a very subtle talent, the enhancement of mind power would give Andy a feeling of 'I've gotten stronger'.

But in reality ... well, well, Andy did become stronger.

The duelling club formed by the four of them met once a week, and Andy and Cedric also sparred from time to time.

In terms of fighting strength alone, Andy and Cedric could be considered equal. Unless they made a careless mistake, neither of them could defeat the other.

But in one duel, Andy used his powerful emotional strength to cast a Disarming Charm, and it almost instantly overpowered Cedric's magic spell, at the same time tearing through his Shield Charm and disarming his wand.

It was a crushing defeat.

Since adding the [Mind] attribute, it was the first time Andy had invoked extreme emotions. At that time, Andy only had one thought in his mind, a very strong thought - to defeat the person in front of him!

It was also that time that Andy understood what it meant to burst out.

Normal use of the Disarming Charm actually required the caster's emotions to cooperate. But extreme emotions were different from normal emotions, it was an extremely strong emotional outburst that could bring out one's full potential.

It was also because of that outburst that Andy slightly touched the threshold of a wizard at Voldemort's level.

Just imagine, given the killing intent and tyrannical emotions in Voldemort's mind, coupled with the darkness in the bottom of his heart, how powerful should a killing curse cast by him personally be?

What's more, the Killing Curse itself was a kind of magic that would kill upon touch.

In other words, Voldemort in his heyday had been unrivalled in terms of 'attack power'.

Terrifying!

Andy had also been thankful that he hadn't been so hot-headed that he had gone to find Quirrell for a duel just for the sake of so-called justice and friends.

That would have been no different from seeking death.

Andy didn't think that he would definitely become the hero of this world just because he crossed over.

The fate of some time-travellers was a lesson from the past.

After adding the [Mind] attribute to level [5], the first thing Andy did was go to the library to look for books related to the Patronus Charm.

Andy had always guessed that the Patronus Charm was most likely the magic where the mind and magic power were fused.

As for the books saying that one needed to recall happy emotions when casting the spell - Andy thought that might just be a result of the simplification of the magic.

"Expecto Patronum!"

In the abandoned classroom on the fifth floor of the castle, Andy waved his wand, and a silvery-white kitten flew out from the tip of the wand, circling in the air before coming to a stop in mid-air in front of Andy.

'Is this the best I can do?' Andy was a little disappointed.

Andy had been practising the Patronus Charm for more than two months, and the result of practising hard for two months ... was to condense his own Patronus Spirit.

This made Andy somewhat dissatisfied.

One should know that Andy had been in a hurry to add points to the [Mind] talent, besides wanting to add a trump card to himself, a more important point was that Andy wanted to learn the Patronus Charm.

'Is it that the [Charms] talent isn't enough?'

All along, Andy's learning of magic could be said to be smooth sailing, especially after the talent points were raised, for the ordinary simple life spells, Andy only needed to see it once to learn it.

But when it came to the Patronus Charm, it was a big stumble.

"Well..." Andy rubbed his temples.

The one thing Andy was most unwilling to admit in these months was - his previous speculation was wrong.

Thud!

Hermione placed a thick stack of books on a worn table, "If you can't figure it out, don't figure it out. We have exams in a week, so even if you don't want to memorize, you should better review these books again."

"You're right!"

Andy gently waved his wand, and the silver-white kitten suddenly disappeared.

In fact, as long as a Patronus was summoned, it could be considered to be proficient in the Patronus Charm. But what Andy wanted to do was to upgrade the magic based on the original foundation of the Patronus Charm.

That was certainly difficult!

Andy walked over to Hermione.

History of Magic, The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1, A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration ...

Andy had a bit of a headache.

The closer the final exams got, the worse Hermione's pre-test syndrome became. Even when walking in the corridor, Andy could hear Hermione reciting textbooks in a small voice.

It was quite crazy.

Andy pulled over a chair and sat down, casually picking up Hermione's History of Magic notes and reading them.

But although his eyes were reading, Andy's brain was thinking wildly about the Patronus Charm and the Obscurus.

Dark emotions form Obscurus...

"Hmm ..."

If there was anyone at Hogwarts who had been abused by their family before they went to school, it would be Harry Potter.

But just by looking at how Harry behaved, one could tell that although he had a bad time at his aunt's house, his heart was really only filled with aggression, anger, sadness, and thoughts of his parents, but the only thing he lacked was hatred.

That's why Harry didn't become an Obscurial.

Andy thought to himself, 'It would be nice to have an Obscurus to study.'

'As for the Patronus Charm...'

Many scholars have said that a wizard's Patronus is actually an embodiment of the mind. Unless they experienced a great tragedy, Patronus would not change their form easily.

If these scholars' speculations were correct, then that meant that Andy's previous speculations were also correct.

The Patronus Charm was the fusion of positive emotions and magic, which could also be said to be the white magic version of Obscurus.

'But... where exactly is the difference?'

Snap!

Hermione slapped the table unhappily, "Read the book properly! What you can't figure out now, maybe when you read more books later, you'll figure it out naturally."

Andy let out a bitter laugh, "I just... well, never mind, I won't think about it."

Collecting his thoughts, Andy seriously read Hermione's notes on the history of magic.

It was a shame to say that the gap between a person and a person was really bigger than the gap between a person and a dog.

The first year's textbooks, Hermione had memorized them even before she entered school. But Andy, not to mention memorizing it, as long as he didn't look at it for a few months, a lot of knowledge points would have been forgotten.

Especially in the history of magic, there were so many people, places, times, and events to memorize.

Andy basically read it once and forgot it next.
