Hermione looked at Andy with mixed feelings.
She was hesitant.
She didn't know whether to persuade Andy to stop exploring the Obscurus.
Many books have recorded that the Obscurus is a dangerous dark magic force, and no one who the Obscurus had inhabited had lived past the age of ten.
Although Dumbledore's sister and nephew were exceptions, they still did not escape the fate of dying young.
But...
Studying magic was Andy's dream!
Long before starting school, Andy had already been studying the knowledge of magic. Even before he turned ten, he noticed the connection between the mind and magic.
He was obsessed with magic!
Hermione felt there was no reason to stop Andy from pursuing his dream.
What's more, if Andy's analysis was correct, he might really be able to create a controllable Obscurus.
That would be the greatest discovery in the history of magic.
"Andy, what are you going to do?" Hermione asked quietly.
"Hmm..." Andy pondered for a moment.
There is a common theme in the world: it is easier said than done.
In theory, there were two prerequisites that Andy had to fulfil to create a controllable Obscurus.
First, magic transfiguration.
Second, returning the magic to an unstable state.
These two points were relatively simple for Andy.
The former is already in process, while the latter... basically only requires a little bit of effort.
Once the preparatory work is done, the real process of creating an Obscurus can begin.
The traditional Obscurus:
Suffers harm due to magic, which triggers a magic riot (accidental magic) in response, and then self-suppresses the magic power due to dislike of the magic that caused the harm.
In this process, the mind and magic achieve a further fusion.
The body is made of magic, and the soul is the mind.
Based on the two magic theories that 'magic comes from life, and life is the sum of body and soul' and that 'the mind is the link between body and soul,' the magic within the wizard's body will evolve from energy to magical life.
This is a qualitative change!
The theory is now very clear, but the real difficulty is actually how to do it.
First, you have to let the magic in your body riot, and then use your mental strength to suppress it.
Leaving the latter aside for the moment, the former alone is already a huge mountain standing in Andy's way.
A magical riot (accidental magic)!
For witches and wizards, only an extreme emotional outburst can trigger a magical riot.
At the beginning of his third year, Harry directly blew his aunt up like a balloon because of a magical riot.
It sounds very simple.
But the reason Harry was able to have a magical riot was because his aunt insulted his parents—it was the negative emotions Harry had accumulated over the summer that all exploded at that moment.
But...
You can't just get angry and be able to create an Obscurus.
If Harry had suppressed his anger and magic at the time, he might have had a chance to become an Obscurus user.
"To be honest, I don't even know how to trigger an Accidental magic."
Andy said with a little frustration, scratching his head. "Not to brag, but I have excellent control over my magic and emotions, and I won't get enraged over ordinary things."
"But if you just suppress it..."
At this, Andy spread his hands in a gesture of resignation and said with a hint of helplessness, "Simply suppressing it means just not using magic, and that won't have any effect at all." Andy had always been proud of his control over magic and emotions.
However, this very edge had become Andy's biggest obstacle when it came to creating an Obscurus.
Hermione thought for a moment and analysed, "Andy, I've summed it up. To become an Obscurial, you need not only outstanding magical talent but also sensitive emotions, a stubborn heart, and a cowardly character."
"Of course, it also requires a little external stimulus."
After saying this, Hermione looked Andy up and down a few times.
"And you are just the opposite."
Hermione looked at Andy and said, "Andy! To be honest, I think you should change your thinking and use other methods to trigger Accidental magic."
"External stimuli...it's not for you!"
"Sigh!" Andy sighed.
Andy knew exactly what Hermione was talking about.
The few steps required to create an Obscurus were easy for Andy, but the one difficult step was triggering an Accidental magic.
"Forget it! Let's talk about it later."
Andy took a deep breath and said, "There's no rush when it comes to creating an Obscurus. Maybe I'll find a way in a few days."
Hermione gave him a 'whatever' look.
***
Time passed quickly, and before long it was December 21st, the day of the Christmas (Yule) holiday.
It was also coincidental that tomorrow was the day Andy was going to perform his first Dark Magic Transfiguration ritual. Having the holiday at this time did alleviate a lot of Andy's troubles.
It is much more convenient to perform the ritual outside the school.
After breakfast in the morning, Andy and Hermione took the Thestral carriage to Hogsmeade Station.
They found an empty compartment on the train, and Andy locked the door as usual using magic.
"It's been quite a smooth year."
Hermione suddenly said after getting on the train. "There was no unreliable Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, and no inexplicable attacks either."
"Apart from Peter Pettigrew barging into the school, it seems like nothing much has happened this year."
Andy looked at Hermione incredulously. "You sound almost regretful."
Hermione gave Andy a sidelong glance. "I just hope that things can stay calm next term."
Andy agreed wholeheartedly, "I hope so too."
"But there have been a lot of things that happened this term; even the Minister of Magic has changed."
In fact, Fudge stepping down was a good thing.
At least the Ministry of Magic would be able to organise resistance as soon as Voldemort resurrected.
However, for Andy, there was also a downside.
With the Ministry of Magic's defence forces strengthened, it would undoubtedly be much more difficult to invade the Department of Mysteries.
After a casual chat about the situation in the wizarding world, Andy and Hermione's conversation returned to magic.
In the few days before the holiday, Andy read a lot of books about the magical outburst (accidental magic) and even asked Snape and Professor Flitwick for advice.
However, whether it was written in the books or explained by the professors, Andy got basically the same answer:
The Accidental Magic was related to an emotional outburst.
It could be an external emotional stimulus or a sudden fatal crisis.
Otherwise, there was no other way!
Moreover, Accidental magic mostly occurred among young wizards under the age of ten. For wizards over the age of eleven, Accidental magic was a rare and unlikely opportunity.
This result made Andy feel quite helpless.
He couldn't possibly kill his sister to prove his 'emo' power or sacrifice his parents to the gods to become all-powerful, could he?
