Andy was confident enough about this trip to the chamber.
As long as he didn't look directly into the eyes of the Basilisk, Andy believed that one shot of the Fiendfyre Curse would be enough to take care of everything.
Whether to bring Hermione or not didn't really affect the big picture.
He had made so many preparations before the action simply for the sake of precaution. Just like Hermione said, the consequences would be too horrible once the Basilisk escaped from the chamber.
Andy simply couldn't afford that consequence.
However, since he had 80% or 90% certainty, and Hermione wanted to go in and take a look so badly, Andy didn't mind taking the young witch on a nice and easy adventure.
In the process, he would let the young witch appreciate his heroic posture.
Flying down the passageway to the bottom, Andy controlled Hermione to stand on the ground while handing over the flying broom to Hermione, "This is the tool of our escape."
"I really should let you try the experience of flying with a levitation charm as well," Hermione said with a pale face.
"Yeah?"
Andy laughed, "Issa had the same idea as you."
Hermione gave Andy a blank look in disbelief, "I never thought you would bully your sister."
"Who made her not have a wand?"
Andy gloated, "Besides, I'm doing this to make Isa study hard. To defeat me, her brother, Isa is working hard now."
"Now I'm kind of looking forward to your duel with Professor Snape, I really hope Professor Snape can teach you a hard lesson!" Hermione complained.
"Professor Snape is no good, you better count on Dumbledore!" Andy admitted that he had been drifting a bit lately.
While speaking, Andy didn't forget to look around.
It had to be said that the environment here was very bad.
The ground was covered with a layer of small animal bones, which were mixed with the dirt, and a 'crunching' sound could be heard when stepping on it.
Andy glanced around and frowned, "There are so many passages here that they should have been purposely built to allow Basilisk to move around."
Hermione was very smart, she immediately understood what Andy meant, "So ... Slytherin built these passages to allow Basilisk to enter all parts of the castle and kill those he deemed unworthy of learning magic!"
The young witch's face was slightly less bright.
This was obviously very different from what Lady Grey had said.
In Lady Grey's words, Slytherin wasn't that extreme, and while he didn't like students from the muggle world, he wasn't so extreme that he wanted to kill them.
Slytherin built the Chamber of Secrets for the purpose of studying magic with like-minded people.
"Maybe ... it was dark magic that affected him?"
Andy guessed, "Or maybe it was because Slytherin couldn't be bothered to do it, so he gave this task to his descendants and asked them to do this cruel thing."
"Of course, it's also possible that Slytherin didn't dare to do that because the other three big fours were all still alive at that time."
There were many reasons, but the passages here could not be faked.
These passages could lead to all parts of the castle.
Slytherin really wanted to purge those students from the muggle world!
Maybe it had something to do with the witch hunts of that time!
"Andy!"
Hermione suddenly looked over at Andy, her face looking a little surprised, "The washbasin, and the sewer system, all of those things were invented by Muggles in recent times. A thousand years ago, there's no way they would have used these."
Andy looked at Hermione in surprise.
The little witch is smart!
She could even think of this angle.
Hermione continued her analysis, "Also, the rumour of the Chamber of Secrets has been around for a long time at Hogwarts. If the Chamber of Secrets was only opened once, sixty years ago, how could it have left those rumours?"
"I read in 'Hogwarts: A History' that Hogwarts underwent a remodelling in the late eighteenth century."
Andy raised his eyebrows, "That means these pipes were built later?"
This reasoning could be perfectly explained.
However, ...
"These have little to do with us, let's go inside and have a look!" Andy said.
"Hm!" Hermione nodded in response.
After walking along the passage for a while, Andy and Hermione came to an iron door.
"It's up to you!" Hermione said as she looked at Andy.
"Uhh!" Andy stepped forward.
"Hiss (open)!"
Click-click...
The mechanism on the iron door kept shifting, and as the door opened, the scene in the chamber was reflected in Andy's eyes.
At the end of the secret room was a huge human head statue, that should be the statue of Slytherin. The statue had an open mouth, Andy guessed that the Basilisk should be sleeping in the mouth of that statue.
The path leading to the statue was flanked by pools of water, in which several giant snake statues also towered.
"Looks like Slytherin loves snakes," Andy grumbled.
"What do we do now?" Hermione asked.
"You wait here, I'll go lure the basilisk out."
Andy said, pointing to the clearing next to the iron gate, "You stand here and don't ever look in."
"When the basilisk comes out, I will immediately run out and release the Fiendfyre here to burn the basilisk."
Hermione was a little worried, "You're on your own ... well! Things have come to ... Andy, you have to be careful."
"Don't worry! I'm the most afraid of death." Andy laughed.
Walking into the chamber, Andy went up and sized up the Slytherin statue for a few moments. It had to be said that the statue was really ugly.
It had an old face and a stupidly open mouth.
"Hiss (come out)!"
Andy didn't know how to wake up the basilisk, so he could only try something random.
The chamber was quiet for a moment.
Just when Andy thought he had failed, a slight rattle suddenly came from the statue's mouth.
Rustling-
It was the sound of a snake crawling.
Andy took two steps back, his heart on constant alert.
"Hiss!"
'It's coming out!' Andy thought in his mind.
Taking out the stone in his coat pocket that was transformed from a rooster and carefully laying it on the ground, Andy quietly retreated from the chamber.
"Andy!" Hermione looked at Andy with a nervous expression.
"The basilisk is out," Andy said.
Hermione was so nervous she was about to forget to breathe.
"Hiss!"
Hearing the commotion coming from the chamber, Andy leaned against the wall and stuck his wand through the iron door into the chamber, undoing the Transfiguration on the rooster.
"Cock-a-doodle-doo!"
The rooster's crowing was heard from the chamber, followed by a 'rumble'.
Andy guessed that the basilisk would be hard enough to handle.
Hermione was pleasantly surprised, "Andy, the rooster's crowing worked."
"It's only temporary!"
Andy said calmly, "Don't forget, that Basilisk has been alive for a thousand years and its eyes can kill a rooster."
"We have to use this!"
As he spoke, Andy held out his wand, and a mass of Fiendfyre slowly jumped about ten centimetres in front of the wand.
"I hate Basilisk!"
