Silax sat motionless, his legs crossed, his back ramrod straight against the wall of the training chamber. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply, and with each exhale, he shed the weight of the physical world, his senses turning inward.
Dust motes danced in the light that shined from the lamps in the chamber. Yet, he saw none of it. With his eyes were closed and his brow furrowed in deep concentration. He wasn't merely meditating; he was delving inward.
With each measured breath, Silax's consciousness slipped further away from the physical realm. Taking a final, cleansing breath, he focused all his mental energy on the point between his brows, and pushed past the physical barrier.
He descended through layers of swirling mist, through a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors that morphed and danced at the edges of his perception.
