People were rushing through the school gate, their expressions vibrant and alive.
Walking next to her electric scooter, Sophia stood out from the throng with her lonesome presence.
Her voice was hoarse as she licked the injured corner of her mouth. "Speak." "The Parker family may seem distinguished, but they have experienced severe internal conflict throughout the years. The elderly father wants to transfer the family company to the first branch and prefers the family of his eldest son. Donald Parker, the youngest son, has always been repressed.
"The old man arranged for Donald to marry a number of suspicious people a few years ago. When Donald revealed he had wed a woman from an average household, he put an end to any further plans for marriage, the tension reached a breaking point.
"Well, his spouse is really fascinating. She has never attended a Parker family luncheon or made an appearance in public."In conclusion, the reality is...
Samson wanted to build tension, but Sophia already knew what he meant. "Comprehensive. Have you figured out his contact details and schedule yet?"
"I'll send you his schedule for the next few days, but I was unable to find his private number," Samson stated, seeming surprised.
Sophia said, "Don't worry," with composure. I'll track him down in person.
Finding the private number of someone of Donald Parker's stature was usual.
Samson was intrigued right away. "He is frequently guarded by bodyguards and difficult to approach. Will you employ force or..."
"Let's stay low-key for now." A sly smile played tricks on Sophia's lips. In addition, I'm a female. I can't barge in by myself."
Samson was at a loss for words.
The Parker Group Headquarters was housed in Oscalake, a huge, famous building that served as a visual representation of the Parker family's excessive riches.
Sophia told the receptionist, "This is a package for Donald," as she put away her courier uniform and entered the room with a delivery box in hand. He needs to personally sign for it."
The secretary's office was phoned by the receptionist before she was given permission to go upstairs.
Sophia reached the 68th floor, the top floor, by boarding a private elevator.
As soon as I got out of the elevator, I saw a huge open area.
The secretary's department employed over a hundred people, all of whom were subordinate to Donald Parker.
Sophia made her way to the president's office with ease, trailing behind the secretary who had come to greet her.
Someone knocked and a nice voice said, "Come in."
Sophia exhaled a sigh of relief when she realized that she would meet Donald Parker without any trouble at all. Suddenly, a tall, thin figure stood in her way.
The assistant, Kiwi Darlington, examined her closely. "Miss Johnson? What brings you here?"
The woman had pestered him at the Johnson residence yesterday, but her boss had put up with her, and now she'd gone so far as to pose as a messenger to annoy him.
Kiwi summoned two bodyguards as his expression soured. "What is going on? Is it possible for someone to reach the top floor without having their identification verified? Remove her right now!"
With a serene expression, Sophia said, "What do you mean? Is Parker Group considering couriers beneath them?
"Are you still trying to play the victim?" sneered Kiwi. We appreciate any job, but are you truly a courier?"
"Yes, I am."
"Do you think I'll believe this nonsense? If you are a courier, do you have a work permit?"
Just as Kiwi finished speaking, a work permit was placed into his hands.
Sophia nearly chuckled, "Of course, I do."
Kiwi was perplexed.
His face froze for a time. He then chuckled, believing he had worked it out. "You probably just registered today, didn't you?"
The registration date was prominently displayed, and the work permit was opened.
Kiwi was taken aback. "Eight years ago?"
Was she a messenger, really?
"Is it prohibited to work and study at the same time?" Sophia spoke languidly to the individual on the other side of the door. "Donald, are you ready to let me do my work now?"
From within the room a firm voice said, "Let her in."
Sophia shot a pointed look at Kiwi. Just as he was ready to lose it, she walked right by him and inside.
Donald's office was furnished in an elegant yet understated manner. The area seemed cozy because of the color combination of black, white, and gray.
With his black shirt sleeves pushed up to display a toned and powerful forearm, he sat behind his large desk. In his hand was a pen.
Donald signed the paper in his palm and glanced up at last, his black eyes showing emotionlessness.
Sophia gestured to the paperwork for delivery. "Donald, please sign here."
Her fingers had a magnificent strength while being fair and thin with a thin coating of calluses on the tips.
It resembled her exactly. Despite appearing weak, she constantly maintained a straight back.
Before Donald lifted the pen to sign, his gaze rested for a minute on the swelling corner of her lips.
Sophia abruptly broke off in a startling sentence, "Donald, you're not married, are you?"
He abruptly stopped writing and raised his head. She felt a pressure that she couldn't quite place as his cold, piercing stare focused on her!
Sophia realized she was correct!
In order to register a marriage, people had to fill out personal information forms from the Civil Affairs Bureau. It was impossible to go wrong.
Donald didn't know the woman at all when he made his marriage public.
Following Samson's inquiry...
The only plausible explanation was that Donald made up a fake wife to get away from the family's persistent attempts to force him into marriage.
He was unaware of their alleged marriage because he hadn't visited the Civil Affairs Bureau.
"Donald, I know my words may sound absurd, but we truly are married," Sophia replied with seriousness.
Donald straightened his chair gently and his expression lightened. "Miss Johnson, stop wasting your time. I wouldn't marry you out of jealousy for Jude, even if I weren't married."
Sophia hesitated a while.
Was he aware of her relationship with Jude Parker in the past and thought she was going for him to exact revenge? Was it the reason he refused to accept her?
Sophia made an effort to clarify. "Jude Parker is not the reason I am here to you. What I want to ask you is... for a separation.
"I'm not interested in your messy relationship."
She was interrupted by Donald, who signed and returned the delivery form promptly. "Stop harassing me, or I won't be so polite."
Sophia began to run out of patience. "Have you not completed it already? You've declared your desire for me to vanish from Oscalake."
Donald raised his eyebrows and began, "When did I ever…"
The abrupt ringing of a phone call interrupted him.
It was the unique ringtone set aside for his granny.
The caregiver's voice was the one on the other end of the call when he took it up right away. "Donald, old Mrs. Parker has gone missing again!"
Donald shot to his feet and moved in the direction of the entrance.
Kiwi stopped Sophia as she attempted to follow him and get additional clarification. "Miss Johnson, I suggest you stop here."
Sophia exhaled deeply.
She was "escorted" out of the Parker Group and took her time getting home.
She observed the elderly woman she had previously met as she turned around as she was ready to enter her house. She was bringing up the rear.
Sophia was astounded.
She opened her mouth to respond, when the elderly woman abruptly seized her wrist.
"My granddaughter-in-law, you won't leave me behind again!"
