Mia was personally shown to the elevator by the receptionist.
Mia saw that Sophia was still in the lobby, sitting on the couch with no intention of leaving, as she waited for the elevator.
How blatantly arrogant.
Mia gave the receptionist a quick look. It's incredibly difficult for you folks. I'll let Donald know that you deserve a raise."
The receptionist's face lit up with joy as she said, "Thank you, Miss Johnson! If you need anything, don't hesitate to give me instructions."
Mia let out a sigh. "My younger sister is rather obstinate. Don't let her wait for Donald to arrive, please."
Mia said these things and then went to the elevator.
The elevator doors shut, and she saw the receptionist approaching Sophia. Mia's lips corner curled into a victorious smile.
Was Sophia genuinely under the impression that her attractiveness would be enough to catch Donald's attention?
How stupid.
Interest, not feelings, rules the world of the affluent.
For four years, Jude had been pursuing Sophia because he was deeply in love with her. Still, he asked Mia to marry him.
Mia was able to marry into the Parker family since she met the requirements!
The 68th story was swiftly reached by the elevator. She was back to her normal calm, kind self when Mia came into the office.
Donald wore a suit and tie, yet there was a trace of sharpness in place of his schoolboy innocence. "What happened to your face?" he inquired nonchalantly, his eyes falling to her face.
Mia cast her eyes down. "Sophia hit me..."
Jude forewarned her, seeming annoyed, "I've already told you. Avoid provoking her.
Mia admitted that she was to blame.
She went to stand next Donald. "Donald, I heard your new project is about renewable energy?"
Donald gave her a serious look. "Yes, if the Parker Group cannot come up with the latest technology, we'll be surpassed in the future."
"I made a dining arrangement with Dr. Bruce and my mother," Mia added, grinning. Should I invite Dr. Bruce to join your team for development and research?"
Donald softened his face. "That would be great."
His perspective changed. He put his arm around Mia's waist and kissed her on the cheek. Sophia really was very rambunctious. Is the pain still there? I'll give it my all for you.
Mia closed her eyes and pretended to be bashful.
But she was laughing icily within.
What might Sophia employ to counter Dr. Bruce, with connections like hers?
Regarding who Donald truly loved, she couldn't care less!
Her only dream was to become Mrs. Jude Parker by marrying into the Parker family!
Her riches and rank would be guaranteed even if her true identity was eventually discovered... *
downstairs in the lobby.
Sophia wrote "Grandson" with her address.
Since the elderly woman was now residing at her home, it was sensible to discuss the duties in advance with the elderly woman's family in order to prevent any misunderstandings down the road.
Just as she was setting up a time to meet with the individual, the light in her surroundings faded.
"You cannot sit here," the haughty receptionist declared as she and two security officers stepped in front of her. You are impeding my efforts. Kindly depart right now."
Sophia got a cold look on her face.
Anyone was free to sit on the lobby sofas as they wished. And she was not even making a sound. How may she be interfering with the duties of the receptionist?
Sophia slouched backward. "If your work is so easily affected, perhaps you should find a private office."
The front desk clerk stumbled. She became furious and gave the security officers the command, "Kick her out immediately!"
The normally boisterous lobby became silent before the security personnel could even move.
The CEO's private elevator doors gently opened, and Kiwi, Darlington and the composed Donald emerged together.
He just gave it a quick glance before turning to gaze about, as if he was looking for someone.
Kiwi took in the scene and moved swiftly over.
He peered at Sophia, his brows wrinkled. "You again?"
Playing the victim, the receptionist wasted no time in doing so. "She stated she needed to deliver a package to Donald, Mr. Darlington. She won't go since I wouldn't allow her."
With a firm reply, Sophia said, "I told you I wasn't delivering a parcel."
The front desk clerk sneered. "Did Mr. Darlington hear that? She made no attempt to pretend. She freely acknowledged that she wanted to head upstairs and look for someone. She's making a big deal out of this since I wouldn't let her go upstairs. I'll send security to take her out right away."
With an air of indifference, Sophia said, "Which Parker Group regulation states that I cannot sit on this couch?"
The front desk clerk was stunned.
Kiwi spoke to Sophia impatiently, "Well, just have a seat here. In any case, you won't even get a second glance from the boss."
"The more pressing issue is that the air conditioning on the top floor is broken," he replied, turning to face the receptionist with a hint of annoyance. According to the repairman, he had already arrived and was prevented from going upstairs by the front desk. Could you elaborate on the situation?"
The receptionist seemed surprised. "I haven't seen any repairman..."
Kiwi scowled. "Really?"
The receptionist gave a brief nod. "I've been here the whole time, and moreover, the top floor isn't something I would take lightly, how could I possibly stop them?"
Kiwi pulled out his phone. "I'll call them and see if they went to the wrong place..."
He heard a sluggish voice before he could dial. "They didn't."
Kiwi was surprised.
Sophia grinned. "That is accurate. I was denied access to the upstairs by the receptionist."
Puzzled, Kiwi Darlington was.
The receptionist was at a loss for words.
Both of them were in disbelief.
It took a while for Kiwi to understand. "That repairman is you? That is not feasible."
He was issued a work permit.
Its date was, in fact, nine years ago.
Kiwi found it hard to believe. "Is this another one of your part-time jobs?"
Sophia didn't dispute it, her gaze shifting to the nearby Donald Parker. "I was not permitted to talk. They even falsely accused me of making a scene here and sought to throw me out. You have quite a powerful receptionist, Donald."
The receptionist gave Donald a concerned glance. "Donald, I..."
With a stoic look, Donald said, "You're fired."
The receptionist's cheeks suddenly flushed, but she was too scared to ask for pardon.
Donald then gave Sophia a somber expression.
Kiwi had looked into the lady. After leaving the Johnson home around middle school, she has been supporting herself via employment ever since.
She worked as a delivery girl yesterday and as a repairwoman today. How many positions has she filled?
Even though she was having a really hard time, she always had her back straight.
How could a lady so defiantly debase herself by continually disturbing him?
After giving it some thought, the mild adoration Donald had begun to feel for her vanished in an instant, to be replaced with resentment. "Miss Johnson, are you satisfied now?"
Sophia got up and nodded. "Donald, did you check with the Civil Affairs Bureau?"
Donald just informed Kiwi in a manner without answering her. "Take her upstairs to work. And never forget that I'd rather not see her once again."
Sophia was astounded.
Kiwi tugged on her arm. "Miss Johnson, come with me. You should give it up, in my opinion. Our employer won't even glance twice at you if you work really hard and manage to climb to the top floor."
Was she truly here at the Parker Group to work, even if her true occupation was delivery and maintenance labor? The truth was known to everybody.
Donald stopped focusing on her after that. He pulled out his phone and sent "Need Iron" a Messenger message.
Concurrently, Sophia's cell phone rang.
