Cole's throat grew dry as he witnessed the battle unfold before his very eyes – he was quite surprised as he watched the battle unfold but it was surely something that taught him a lesson, he watched Rem's lifeless gaze as he left the podium and a single thought filled his mind- Monster.
A maid had been assigned to heal the unfortunate girl, carrying her off by the shoulder and exiting the fifth floor to the Infirmary down below, a room in the vast mansion where the nurses could attend to the Apprentices wounded by their training.
"Well that was quite an astounding battle," Maria said while clapping her palms, even Cole could not help but notice that even the instructor had taken a gulp of saliva to quench her dry throat, "Now the next people on the list are Cole and Krista,"
Cole sighed in a little bit of relief, Krista might be a Beastkin but with his weapons- Cole was sure that he had a hundred percent chance of victory.
Even though Cole couldn't unleash the full potential of the Twin Chained Blades by pouring soul energy, something he didn't have into their ethereal jagged blades which would do well in boosting their strength, he had mastered the weapons to the peak of his ability and unlike Mika that chose a sword, Krista chose a beast gauntlet which was a poor choice against his weapon.
'I have both the ability in long range and short range, I'll win by battle like Rem did,' Cole thought while gripping his right blade, surely he would win.
"Both of you step onto the battlefield," Maria said at last and Cole moved forward, his body propelling forward at an astounding rate before landing on the right side of the battlefield- even before Krista was able to begin her walk.
Rem's gaze was on the battle that was set to begin shortly.
'If I were to place a bet, it would be on Krista,' Rem thought, 'Even though her physicality doesn't match that of Cole which is surprising even though she's a Beastkin, she still has the potential to unleash her soul energy and if she does, applying it to important places at the right time, she's bound to win the confrontation,'
Krista upon getting to the battlefield took a combat stance – not one that had been too perfected but it would be manageable for her fight with Cole, a stance which defended all her weak and vital spots with her knuckles in front for any instant attack from Cole.
The Crimson haired apprentice couldn't help but smile as he dug his feet into the ground, spreading his arms apart and letting the blades fall to the ground, he gripped his weapons by the chain and with this action, they would turn into Long range projectiles, capable of moving and slicing as far as the chain could carry it.
"Begin!"
That was the last word both fingers needed to hear before they began their advances to each other – Krista took the motive, pushing her body forward and making a well-planned sprint toward her opposing Apprentice but Cole on the other hand propelled his jagged blades forward and they shot through the air, each one as fast as a speeding bullet as they built more momentum the closer they got to Krista.
Krista saw them and her eyes widened in horror as the left blade moved toward her side instantly, threatening to impale her stomach but she was light on her feet, dodging to the right only for the second blade to cut her cheek the next instant, passing by her and engraving itself into the wall.
'Those are some sharp blades,' Krista thought as her feet landed on the ground, cleaning the blood that had begun to drop from the wound- her eyes gave her away as her heart clenched… she was actually seeing her blood on her fingers.
Krista took a deep breath, forcing herself not to scream. This was what she was in now- a job that required her to sacrifice her blood and effort into becoming what was known as a Cavalier… a warrior.
Clenching her knuckles, Krista gave a small smile which surprised Cole… surely not everyone could be as crazy as Rem.
Slowly energy begun to build up within her soul and Rem sighed, it had finally been done.
'Dad always told me… He said I should be a warrior,' Krista thought, her soul was being fueled by her thoughts as she felt something rapidly build up within her, threatening to burst like a dam.
'I will make sure what happened to me won't happen to any other person in this world,' Krista finalized as she bit her lips and violet aura soared from her fists, much to Cole's surprise – the bubbling tension had finally been shattered.
The violet sparks of aura slowly grew stronger, the more she clenched her fist, the more Krista felt it being circulated to every part of her palm and they empowered the gauntlet – Krista could feel the Gauntlet's power resonating with her's as her eyes landed on Cole's figure.
'I've made up my mind- I'm going to be a warrior,'
'She too unlocked her Soul energy,' Cole thought as he gritted his teeth in dismay, drawing back on the blades engraved deeply within the wall and sending them spinning right back at Krista but the girl wasn't fazed, instead her gaze lingered on Cole.
The Crimson haired boy gulped… he had never seen such an expression in her eyes, at that moment she looked down on him like a prey – her predatory instincts kicking in as she instantly leapt into the air, spinning past both blades in the process.
Cole's eyes flashed as he grabbed the chains, forcing them backward to himself.
'As she has unlocked her Soul energy, there is no way I can dual-wield,' Cole thought as he quickly latched a single blade onto his back, the sheath held it steady and he gripped the other one, pointing it at Krista, 'So I'll go at her with something I excel at the most,'
Krista landed on the ground and assumed her battle stance while Cole slowly but surely entered his own stance, his eyes locking onto Krista's in a fierce flurry of emotions.
'Close combat,' Cole thought.
