Chapter 22 - Mika, The Strange One

Cole had no time to react as his body was thrown back from the incredible force behind Rem's blow… his eyes turning blank as he crashed into the ground back-first and felt the wind being knocked out of him.

Instructor Martinez looked over his shoulder and his eyes turned wide in surprise… Cole was the first to fall? His eyes couldn't believe it.

'Cole is a speed-demon,' Martinez thought as he saw Rem staggering to stand, his fist clenched as exhaustion threatened to overwhelm his figure… he could barely catch a glimpse of a Silhouette, pulsating green aura revolving around Rem's back but it vanished the next second.

Rem turned around and turned to face Krista, the maids carried Cole away for healing… as Rem had expected, her beast instincts were carrying her through as she reflexively dodged all of the attacks directed at her.

Mika clenched her teeth.

"Could you stop dodging already?" Mika asked as she spun around and landed a spin kick on Krista only for the beastkin to bend over and dodge the kick narrowly- now Mika was even more annoyed, what kind of opponent kept dodging without attacking?

She spared a glance at Cole's body, knocked out cold being taken away by some maids and sighed a bit.

"The newbies are… skilled," Mika said as her gaze returned to Krista, standing while heaving short breaths… Mika hadn't struck a blow yet and even she was getting a little bit fatigued from chasing the girl around- yet she could see that Krista wasn't even nearing her limits yet.

'Beastkin are so annoying,' Mika thought while closing her eyes and taking a deep breath to calm herself down, she had to circulate her energy within her very core to prevent losing her temper and taking… drastic… choices.

Upon opening her eyes, her body felt reinvigorated and she quickly assumed a combat stance. Rem felt something change in this girl within the next instant, an aura akin to a monster wrapped around her entire body… it was pale pink, bright and powerful yet it looked like the others couldn't see it, her tattoo let off a pale gleam and it didn't take Rem more than a second to realize that this was a visualization of her soul.

'What's with all these apprentices having Monster-like aura? Oh come on, some of us had to work for it,' Rem thought in annoyance as Mika shot forward, her body vanishing from sight in an instant only to appear beside Krista shortly.

Mika threw a punch and Krista tried to dodge it, only for the blue-haired Apprentice to stop her punch mid-air and strike with a spin kick to Krista's head- an attack that succeeded in dealing damage to the Beastkin as she held her head and whined in pain.

'Deception is one of the key tools that a warrior has in a fight,' Rem thought as he gave a little nod of approval… Krista's instincts and speed played a key part in her ability to dodge Mika's attacks but that was the end of it, Mika had gained the edge back in the battle by employing deception into her attacks and making sure Krista got hit.

'I'm still glad that I got Cole as my opponent,' Rem thought while folding his arms- Cole while strong wasn't the greatest here, if anything, he would soon be surpassed by the rest of them… besides Rem could already keep up with his speed while using Flash Movement. After all, he had the Monster Monarch system, a tool that helped him get stat skills after absorbing souls and it was pretty easy to get some- Rem even planned to visit a graveyard sometime soon to find any straggler souls he could use to strengthen himself.

Krista was a beastkin and it automatically meant that she had the potential to surpass any human being, after all, a beastkin was a beast that transcended all physical limits… S-Cavalier legends were all Beastkin after all.

The Monster in human's clothing was unknown so Rem couldn't actually find any clear words to describe him but anything shapeshiter was sure to be strong.

And then there was this girl… She was the strangest of them all, yet from what her soul energy suggested- she was far much stronger and not to mention most of her power was drawn from the tattoo that was on her shoulder.

"So stressful," Rem muttered with a sigh as he watched Mika dominate the battle more, he was sure that he was going to witness a loss but Krista did something that Rem didn't expect… well maybe he did…

Mika smirked to herself as she confused the beastkin with her quick movement, her will to finish the battle quickly had been drowned and now all she wanted to do was to play with sorry prey.

Krista's eyes flung back and forth the battleground, her eyes were rendered useless upon the incredible speed that Mika displayed.

Her blood began to boil as more energy flowed into her veins, her eyes- Mika's once blurry figure was becoming a lot clearer now and then she struck as Mika was in the air with a headbutt so powerful that it knocked the wind out of the Blue haired girl.

'Hmm,'

Mika regained her footing and landed on the ground, she too was temporarily surprised by the sudden change of demeanor in the calm beastkin but the attack caused nothing other than making her lose her breath and for that reason… she would give Krista a swift defeat.

Pink aura flooded Mika as Krista leapt to her, the closer Krista got, the slower she became to Mika and the Blue-haired girl had raised her right fist into the air, she punched Krista and it connected… a shockwave engulfing the battleground as the ground quaked, the quaking stopped a moment later and Krista was sprawled across the ground, her eyes blank and her breathing haggard… even she had been overwhelmed by the girl.

Yet Rem had no time to gaze upon Krista's fallen figure, the battle royale was not over yet- the Shapeshifter began his walk, taking calm cautious steps forward as his body drew closer to Rem's.

Rem took a combat stance and prepared himself for a fight.
