The dead body of the Boss Monster lay strewn across the ground, it's lifeless eyes facing that of Drew as he withdrew his broken sword from the head of the Boss.
"That was intense," He muttered under his breath.
His eyes were heavy and his muscles strained, Using Convergence with such force had made him exhausted but it was all for good reason.
His crimson eyes flickered as he thought back to George and tears rolled down them.
When a Party enters a Dungeon, they must be aware that they are risking their lives. There was no assurance that you would make it out of the Dungeon alive and there was no assurance that you would NOT make it out of the Dungeon alive, Everything was 50 – 50.
The Earth Magus had already started burrowing into the flesh of the Boss, to find the Magical stone that lay within.
Rem was surprised but nevertheless he saw a terrifying green aura wrapping around the corpse of the Boss, It was amazingly strong.
…
[Would you like to absorb 'Death Wolf King' Soul?]
[Yes / No]
…
Rem tapped on the Yes button and the aura shot through the air, heading toward him. As it combined with him, he felt a little bit different- stronger even.
…
['Death Wolf King' soul has been successfully absorbed]
['Death Wolf King' can be summoned]
[You have gained 3 STR points, You have gained 3 SPD points, You have gained Unique Skill: Horns Of Malevolence]
…
Rem's eyes widened in momentary surprise, killing dungeon bosses were really beneficial!
The Earth Magus pulled out a large magic stone from the heart of the Boss, This was the magic stone that the Boss had.
As she took it, a purple portal appeared atop the corpse of the Boss…
When the Boss of a Dungeon was killed, A dungeon gate would appear in the center of the Boss room which would take the Party to the outside world since Dungeons were far too big.
"Let's go," The Squad Leader said as he took hold of the Healer and they left.
Rem took one final look at the Dungeon before stepping into the Purple gate.
#####
"Here is your pay for carrying our baggage," The Squad Leader said as he reached his hand into his pockets and produced 10 Bronze coins, "Here, have them,"
"Thank you," Rem said and took the coins before slinking away.
This was just a small town in Uttel Kingdom, it was nothing in the big picture and they were a traveling party. He couldn't stick around since they were heading to the GUILD to exchange their Magic Stones for money.
To have the official permission to be a part of a Party, You either had to be from the Magus Academy or the Cavalier Institution.
Two Prestigious institutions that specialized in training Magus and Cavaliers in Uttel Kingdom, they were the only ways one could have the certifications to exchange Magical stones for money.
'It's hard to imagine those people I partied with were still students under those respective Academies,' Rem thought to himself.
Once you graduated, you had a license to start an official party and start taking on Dungeons depending on the rank you get once you graduate.
Rem didn't care about becoming a Cavalier neither a Magus, all he saw was the big picture- Monarch.
'Will I have the respect I want… the respect I deserve?' Rem thought to himself.
'If I become a Monarch… will I finally be recognized?' Rem thought aloud, he was just a no-name kid whose parents were murdered… but everything would change.
'It was in the name of the System 'Monster Monarch System', Can I truly become the Monster Monarch?' Rem thought as he arrived at his… place.
It was a tall domineering abode, with a rusty roof and pale coloring. The yard itself was very dirty but Rem didn't care as he slinked in through the broken front door.
If he wanted to clean it, he would have done so but the fact was that if this was cleaned then it would be an attraction for greater dangers- Thugs, goons and the rest of them.
Rem didn't want to confront them so he made his place look… abandoned but the inside spoke volumes about his cleanliness as the tiles, although they lost their color had been cleaned rigorously.
Rem slumped on the ground and sighed, His eyes going to the pouch of ten bronze coins.
'I could buy myself Lunch,' Rem thought.
It was afternoon but he wasn't starving.
'I could buy new clothes,' Rem thought.
His clothes were baggy and torn but clean nonetheless; at least he made an attempt.
'Or I could find out more about the System,' Rem thought.
Ultimately he chose the last one and went outside to the dirty backyard.
#####
In the dungeon, Rem had witnessed Magus utilizing their MP to use Spells and even the Healer who had no offensive spells casting Reinforcement and Healing spells and he was only able to grasp little about Magic.
To use a Spell, One had to utilize their MP but a small glance at his status showed that his Magic had risen all the way from 1 -> 10.
"Alright," Rem said, he planned to test out all his skills ranging from the Physical skills to the Magical ones.
Rem raised a thick branch from the ground and felt energy brimming in his veins.
'This must be that Goblin skill,' Rem thought as he smashed the branch down on the ground with force, the branch snapped but there was a dent on the ground, signifying that the skill had been used.
'The branch isn't strong enough,' Rem thought with a nod as he threw the broken branch aside and prepared to use Flash Movement.
He felt energy bubble within his veins as he pushed forward, his body turning into a blur. He cleared 2 meters in an instant much to his surprise.
Rem appeared again and although it didn't take anything from his magic, Rem felt a bit tired after using Flash Movement.
'Only Murderous Intent and Horns of Malevolence are left,' Rem thought.
He stood straight and focused on expending magic into releasing his intent, the skill seemed to activate as Rem felt different in a way.
…
[Murderous Intent is being used…]
[There was no target so Murderous Intent has been deactivated]
…
And Rem felt that change vanish as instantly as it had appeared.
"I need a target to use Murderous Intent on… Hmm, makes sense," Rem said.
The only skill left were the Horns of Malevolence.
"I wonder what that does," Rem muttered and just as he did, he felt the magical energy in his body drain rapidly as horns protruded from his forehead.
…
[Horns Of Malevolence has been activated]
[+5 stats have been given to the SPD stat, +5 stats have been given to the STR stat, +5 stats have been given to the END stat]
[Fatigue has been triggered]
…
Rem didn't have enough MP to keep these horns active for a long time but he was surprised at the increase in power it granted to him. A 5 points increase to all stats in exchange of Fatigue that would slowly grow.
'This is truly strength,' Rem thought.
