Illusion Magic was a kind of magic that affected the five senses but if someone knew that they were in an illusion – it didn't work anymore. The kind of fear that Rem wanted Kiara to experience was one that only applied to a real-life experience.
If she knew she was in an illusion, she wouldn't feel the substantial amount of fear needed to release her soul energy – she would know everything was fake. So everything he did to this point and the action of the people in the Illusion made sure to portray that whatever happened before was a dream.
Rem gritted his teeth as he began forming the horror in the illusion, the storm that would enable her to unleash her soul energy.
