Basilisk's Crown not only elevated the Basilisk King's King Skills, but made them functionally Skills that were directly activated by its bloodline. Not only did this allow it to trigger these Skills near instantaneously, but it off-loaded much of the burden onto its Blood Essence.
As a result, the Aether requirements for the Skills plummeted off a cliff.
Gene Skills were well known for their steep costs. Sylas himself had seen this personally especially with his movement methods. If not for reaching Progenitor Mastery, he wouldn't even have the right to cast them.
