Allie found a woman inside. She appeared to be in her forties, and when she saw Allie, she stopped wiping the vases and approached her.
"Hi! You must be Miss Allie, Master Evan's wife. I am Nina, the cook and the housekeeper. I don't sleep here, though. I just come here every day."
"Nice to meet you, Nina. Is Evan here?"
"He hasn't arrived yet, Miss. Are you hungry? I just finished cooking dinner."
"Thank you, but I've had some snacks. I'll just have dinner with my husband."
My husband. Allie almost cringed at the words. She wasn't comfortable saying it, but she made sure it didn't show on her face. Nina was a spy for Esme, so she had to be a little affectionate with Evan when she was here. Most couples usually had dinner together, especially newlyweds like them, so it would be odd if she ate dinner first.
