"You are bound to betray us like she did!"
With the bird's blood on his hand, Bryce grabbed Allie's little neck and squeezed it until she was coughing.
"It hasn't happened yet, but I know… I know you will only betray us, Dovey."
Allie cried, helpless. She was breathing hard as she tried to escape Bryce's grip, but a weak little girl could only do so much. Her eyes turned bloodshot, and Bryce grinned at her as if he was enjoying her misery.
Bryce wanted her to suffer. Her father did too. They never considered her as family. They never loved her.
"Please, Bryce… please stop! Please…" she begged, sobbing between her shallow breaths.
"Please, Bryce! Let me go—"
Allie's eyes fluttered open, and she was brought back to reality. She was having a nightmare, and the first thing she saw when she opened her eyes stunned her.
It was Evan, sitting beside her on the bed and peering down at her with serious eyes.
