"You are from the city, so it must have taken you the whole day to get here. I don't know what he instructed you to do or what is going on between you two, but I assure you he's just toying with you. He can be petty and ruthless sometimes."
Lyla looked at Allie with pity.
Allie stood, her face unreadable. "Thank you for your time, Miss Ferrer."
Before Lyla could say anything, Allie had walked away. She went straight to her car, but she didn't start the engine.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She should have known that something was wrong when Evan chose a woman himself!
