Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

"Damon?" Ava gently sat on his lap, feeling something poking her. She was confused by her behavior, shaking her head in an attempt to clear her thoughts. Leaning in closer, she called out, "Damon!" His eyes remained closed, but his hands moved to her waist.

"What the hell are you doing, Ava?" his voice was rough. "I'm trying to get some sleep here." He used his hands to shove her off his body, causing her to fall to the floor and experience a painful impact.

Getting up, Ava climbed back onto the bed. "Damon, you promised to show me around, remember?" She couldn't help but feel like a little girl waking her daddy up. "Damon!"

"Fine!" he growled, sitting up. "Jesus Christ, can't I get a little sleep, Ava?" Looking at his disheveled hair, he used his hands to cover his face before standing and moving towards the bathroom. But before Ava could react, three maids walked into the room, dropping a tray of food and a dress.

They bowed their heads and said, "Queen Elizabeth has requested your presence and has also asked you to wear this dress." They handed the dress to Ava, who extended her hand to receive it.

"Please inform Queen Elizabeth that the dress is beautiful, but I regretfully have to decline her invitation to meet," Ava replied firmly. The maids exchanged shocked glances before she added, "You may go."

"Excuse me, my lady, but if you don't go, you might get beheaded," one of the maids, Madison, summoned the courage to speak. "Nobody is allowed to reject a queen's request, and to top it off, a human."

"A human that will soon be my wife," Damon growled as he walked out of the bathroom.

"Your Grace," Madison's face turned red the moment she laid eyes on Damon. I couldn't blame her; his physique was stunning.

"Tell Elizabeth that Ava has better things to do," Damon commanded.

"Your wish is our command," the maids left, and I glanced at Damon. His earlier comment had made me a little angry and unhappy. "I want to go home," I stated, standing up and watching the confusion on his face.

"Why?" he asked.

"Because I am not getting married to you," I frowned, observing him as he chuckled, water still dripping from his hair as he laughed. "What's so funny?"

"You're silly," he replied, grabbing my hand and pulling me close. "You thinking I want to marry you is funny. Ava, I don't even know you well enough to marry you. You aren't even my girlfriend yet."

"Whatever, Damon," I sighed, and he kissed my cheek. "Where do you wish to go today, Ava?"

Furrowing my brows, I mumbled, "How am I supposed to know where I wish to go when I don't know anywhere around here?"

"Fair point," he stepped towards the closet and swiftly took off his towel before I could avert my eyes. I swallowed and blinked because it was the first time I had seen a naked man's butt. Thank God it was just the butt. How would I feel if I saw the other side?

Oh God, help me.

"You know, Ava," he mumbled, "my hands have been itching me for a while now. I think I'm going to spank you tonight." He put on his boxers, and I finally gasped, watching him put on a brush and brush his hair before dressing in black trousers and a black long-sleeved shirt. Couldn't he just wear something else?

He never changes.

"Now," he turned around, his expression unreadable and not smiling. "Come, I want to show you something." The moment we stepped out of the room, that cold, unreadable expression returned to his face. Did that mean he had been genuine in the room?

Trying to catch up with him, I held his hand, making him stop and look down at me with a raised eyebrow. "You're fast," I mumbled, smiling.

"Hmm," he grinned. "Do you want me to carry you?"

"What? No! Of course not," my face turned red, especially because Anna was standing right there, staring at me. "I can walk, you know."

"Damon, stop acting so caring," Anna stepped forward and kissed him right on the lips. Damon didn't push her away, nor did he respond.

"You need to stop this silly greeting of yours, Anna," he growled. "We may have done things we shouldn't have when we were young, but that has to stop."

"You were the one who started it, not me. I didn't ask you to sneak into my twin brother's bed," she grinned, and Damon smiled, but it was a fake one.

"Shut up, Anna. You know full well you wouldn't have dropped your panties on my bed if you didn't want me to show you how a real man takes a woman," what he said made Anna's face turn red.

These two people are siblings, and they have had sex before. Not only that, but it seems normal.

"Stop talking that way, Damon. You know we were betrothed..."

"I have better things to do, Anna. Excuse me." Holding my hand, he dragged me away with him. Silence fell between us, and I had no intention of talking because this man had a lot of secrets. If he is betrothed to his twin sister, they are to get married.

"Damon..."

He cut in, "I know, Ava. I am betrothed to my sister." We stopped at a ranch, and I watched him touch a black horse, about to untie it before I asked.

"Isn't that wrong?"

He smiled and then looked at me, "For humans, yes. But haven't you heard that blood is thicker than water? Most kingdoms want their bloodline to remain strong and not get diluted by external influences."

"Are you still going to marry her?"

"I don't know, Ava. If she adds a little more charm, just like yours, then maybe I will," he winked, but I didn't find it amusing. Moving closer, I cupped his face in my hands and brought him down to my level. "Ava?"

"Do not marry her," I furrowed my brow. "You don't love her, and it's wrong to ruin someone's life by marrying them just because you're told to." He grinned and then pulled away, his fingers lifting my chin.

"Tell me something, Ava," the smile remained on his lips. "Are you telling me this because you want me for yourself, or because you simply care for me and want me to be happy?"

"Neither," I mumbled. "I simply don't want you to ruin that innocent girl's life with your questionable actions." When the words left my mouth, I watched him chuckle. The servants passing by stopped and looked shocked.

"The master laughs?" They gasped out of surprise, and then it hit me. Damon had never laughed before, so it must be shocking to see him laugh so freely.

"Of course, I forget," he leaned close and squeezed my rear, which caused my face to redden. He didn't move his hand away. "You hate me, and I love you... ironic, isn't it, my silly girl?"

"What are you doing?" I gasped when his other hand grabbed my other cheek and pulled me closer to him, my hand pressed against his chest. "Damon? We are outside. The maids are watching. What is he doing? Is he insane?"

"It feels like we are rewriting your favorite novel, isn't it? I'm trying to win that stubborn heart of yours," he grinned, and I hit his chest.

"I do not have a stubborn heart," with each word I said, he squeezed my rear, and I was trying my best not to moan. "Let go of me, Damon." Instead of following my request, he leaned close and kissed me. My hands clenched on his shirt, and surprisingly, I kissed him back.

I gasped as he squeezed my rear again, forgetting about my surroundings. What is happening? Why am I allowing this man to touch me? Have I somehow lost my mind?

With a gasp, he dove his tongue into my mouth, meeting mine. And that's all it took for my body to be filled with pleasure. The sensation between my legs grew wet, and this man was igniting something within me.

He broke the kiss, our eyes still locked on each other. Biting my lower lip, he mumbled, "You taste so good." His hands moved to my waist. "Like strawberries."
