THE SYSTEM I MADE

Chapter 10

"The hunt continues"

Clad in his new Assassin's Robe, Alex felt the darkness of the Emberfall Forest embrace him as he merged with the shadows. The magical fabric of his robe blended perfectly with the dim environment, making him nearly invisible to the unsuspecting eyes. With each silent step, he moved deeper into the heart of the orc village, his gaze sweeping over the orc clan engrossed in their nightly activities.

"Decreasing their numbers is effective when facing multiple enemies. I'll stick to ambush and act in the shadows," he murmured to himself, strategizing his next moves. His eyes narrowed as he observed the layout of the orc encampment, particularly noting the positions of the Archer orcs stationed in the watchtowers.

"The archer orcs are all over the place, which is annoying. And the warrior orcs... I can't encounter them yet. At least not until I boost my strength a bit more to increase my chances of victory," he thought, formulating a plan.

"I have an idea; I'll need to get closer," Alex resolved, dashing from one shadow to another with heightened agility, his movements fluid and silent thanks to the robe. The Archer orcs, perched slightly above ground in their watchtowers, remained oblivious to the predator moving below.

Approaching a watchtower, Alex witnessed an archer orc on guard, bow in hand, eyes scanning the darkness for intruders. In a moment of calculated precision, another figure appeared atop the tower—this one also an orc, or so it seemed. "Grak!" the on-duty archer orc exclaimed in surprise.

The new orc growled, "Grrrrr," wich translates to, "What are you doing here?"

Before the on-guard orc could react further, the end of a sword blade emerged from its chest, the false orc was none other than AIDA's Augmented reality projection, as he execute a perfect ambush. The real archer orc slumped as Alex withdrew his sword, the life fading from its eyes.

'You have slain an Archer orc,' the system chimed.

'You have earned 20 distribution points,'

'You have earned 30 points.'

Standing atop the watchtower, Alex scanned the horizon of the village, his plan unfolding successfully. Each silent, deadly move brought him closer to undermining the orc clan's strength, and with his new attire and quick thinking, he was becoming a true shadow in the night.

The digital notifications flickered rapidly on Alex's HUD, a stark reminder of the brutal efficiency with which he had dispatched his foes.

'You have slain an Archer orc'

'You have earned 10 points, you have 100 points remaining'

'You have earned 20 distribution points'

As the last echo of these words faded, a grim realization settled over Alex. "There's a high probability I'll be facing warrior orcs next," he muttered under his breath, knowing that the brute strength of these foes was not to be underestimated. The temptation to pour all his newly acquired points into strength was strong, but wisdom prevailed. "I can't just focus on strength; I need a balanced approach."

"Aida, stats," Alex commanded, his voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through his veins. The AI obediently displayed his updated stats on the translucent screen before him:

- Agility: 15/100 + [30 (Robe)]

- Stamina: 13/100

- Intelligence: 16/100

- Strength: 32/100

- Luck: 13/100

- Dexterity: 15/100

- Remaining distribution points: 10

With a strategic mindset, Alex redistributed his points, enhancing his intelligence and agility. The balance seemed right—a fusion of mental acuity and physical prowess.

As he resumed his stealthy mission, the Assassin's Robe melded him into the shadows, a spectral figure haunting the orc-infested terrain. Ahead, a massive warrior orc patrolled, armored and imposing, its large sword swinging idly by its side. The creature's head, the only visible vulnerability, beckoned.

Silently, Alex drew an arrow from the quiver of a fallen archer orc. Moving with the enhanced agility afforded by his robe, he aimed for a silent kill, targeting the warrior's head. As he released the arrow with a whispered breath, the unthinkable happened. The warrior orc's reflexes belied its size. With a snarl, it caught the arrow mid-air, snapping it effortlessly as if it were no more than a twig.

"Wh-What? It didn't phase it," Alex stammered, his voice a mix of disbelief and fear.

Without warning, the warrior orc retaliated. It delivered a punishing kick that sent Alex sprawling across the forest floor, the air knocked brutally from his lungs. He barely had time to register the pain before the orc advanced, raising its sword high against the dimming light.

The warrior orc stood over him, a terrifying silhouette framed by the darkening sky, its sword ready to end the life of the intruder who dared challenge its might. Alex, his back against the earth, knew he had only moments to act if he wished to survive this encounter.
