Zairon looked at me with disbelief. "What? But-"
I interrupted him. "I lied, Zairon. I thought maybe you would feel some responsibility, but it seems you're not interested. So, there's no baby, and there never was."
His expression changed from confusion. "Why would you lie about something like that?"
I smirked, my voice tinged with bitterness. "Just returning the favor. You rejected the idea of being a father, so I rejected burdening you with it." I kept myself calm so he wouldn't know I was lying.
He took a step back. "No, let me check you. I'll know if you're pregnant or not. I'm a doctor, I can tell."
