Chapter 1 - The Unknown Disc

The world has evolved around technology to the point that it's impossible to think about being completely isolated from the reach and influence of the information technology in our day to day life.

Many people jumped into the bandwagon to capitalize on the opportunity to make a fortune. Some failed while others succeed to make a mark in the field. Chase was one of the many who had joined into this race.

While the whole world was asleep. Chase sat hunched over his desk, the glow of his computer screen acted as the only source of light in the dimly lit home office.

Lines of code flickered across the screen as he typed furiously, his brow furrowed in concentration. Despite his technical prowess, he had been struggling to bring his latest project's idea to life, with pressure mounting with each passing day.

He had been working around the clock, sacrificing his personal life in pursuit of this project, yet the breakthrough he so desperately craved remained elusive.

"You should take a break," Aiden remarked as he walked into the room and turned on the light. "You are going to ruin your health at this rate," He sighed.

Aiden has been Chase roommate for almost two years, he doesn't talks alot with Chase but had always been there when he needed any help.

He has striking facial features characterized by strong jawline, high cheekbones, and expressive eyes. His jawline is typically angular and well-defined, adding to his masculine appeal, with prominent cheekbones. He is quite popular with girls for his looks but his cold personality sometimes appears like arrogance to some.

"I guess you are right, I should take a break," Chase replied glancing at the clock, realizing it was well past midnight. With a weary shake of his head, he decided to take a short break, hoping a change of scenery would help clear his mind.

"Going out for a walk?," Aiden asked while walking over to the open kitchen.

"Well, I think I should it might help me relax a bit," He answered as he prepared to leave for the walk.

"Remember Chase you are the one who had approached each problem with a sense of unbridled enthusiasm, undaunted by the obstacles that stood in your way."

Aiden looked towards him and with a slight smile and continued on to say that "You better not forget your own character."

Chase chuckled and replied "Sure thing." As he left the room and headed towards the local park for a walk.

While walking through the silence Chase realized that somewhere along the line, the pressure to succeed, the weight of expectations, had worn him down, leaving him feeling jaded and uncertain.

But the fresh cold, with the beauty of the starry sky reflecting on the clear surface of the quiet and still lake in the middle of the park made him forget all his worries.

As he sat down on the bench by the lake side, Chase smiled to himself remembering the saying that "The still waters of a lake reflect the beauty around it. When the mind is still, the beauty of the Self is seen reflected in it."

While he enjoyed the calmness of the night, a shiny round object on the edge of the lake caught his attention. Chase stood up and walked towards the object that piqued his interest.

"looks like a disc within a sealed cover," He thought to himself."It's been a long time since I have seen one." Chase decided to take the disc back with him and find out what's stored inside it.

On the way home Chase saw some men in black suits walking around. They seemed to be searching for someone or something. He didn't put much thought into it and went his way to the nearby convenient store to grab a snack.

After purchasing some chips and instant ramen, he made his way back home. When he reached home Aiden had already gone to bed in his room. Chase boiled some water to cook the instant ramen, he had just got from the store.

"Nothing beats the taste of ramen for a late night snack," Chase remarked as he feasted on it. After finishing up his meal Chase remembered about the disdis, he had just found at the park.

Chase took out his old external dvd drive reader and plugged it into his computer. He took out the disc from it's cover and cleaned it before putting it into the reader.

"Here goes nothing," Chase said to himself as he loaded the disc and to his surprise it worked. The disc responded normally without any errors.

As the disc whirred to life, he began scrolling through the files, his eyes scanning the directories and folders with a renewed sense of purpose.

Chase found a folder named 'Code paradigm'.

With a few keystrokes, he opened the project, the software's interface sprang to life on his screen. The design was sleek and modern, complex yet elegant.

"What's the purpose of this program," He murmured to himself as he began to meticulously examine the code, his fingers flying across the keyboard as he delved deeper into the software's secrets. The path forward was uncertain, but the allure of the unknown was too strong to ignore.

While examining the whole software he came across a bug like icon in red, his fingers hesitated over the mouse as he debated whether to open the clicked the mysterious icon.

Part of him knew he should be focusing on his current work. But the lure of the unknown, the tantalizing prospect of uncovering the secrets hidden within this unknown project was too strong to ignore.

His mind racing with the implications of his decision to venture into the uncharted territory of this unknown project, he found inside a disc which he had no idea about. The weight of his current work and the pressure to succeed hung heavy on his shoulders, but the allure of the unknown was undeniable.

With a resolute mind, Chase made his choice. His fingers moved with purpose, double-clicking the red bug icon and watching as the application loaded, He leaned forward, his eyes narrowing with focus. He was acutely aware of the risks he was taking, the potential consequences of venturing into the unknown. But the curiosity that had been piqued by his discovery was simply too powerful to resist.

As soon as he clicked the 'red bug' icon several lines of different data in different categories with different names appeared in front of his screen.

"What is this all about?" As he meticulously examined the data, Chase began to form a clearer picture of the software's capabilities. It had the ability to seamlessly integrate with a wide range of electronic devices, from smartphones and laptops to industrial machinery and security systems. The implications were staggering.

Chase's excitement grew with each passing moment, his fingers moving with a sense of urgency as he navigated the software's inner workings. He leaned in, his grey eyes reflecting the determination and curiosity from the glare of the laptop screen. The more he uncovered, the more his curiosity was piqued.

To clear his doubts, he started to match out the particular pieces of information he had seen on the screen with the news on the internet. Particularly about stock market and medical research.

Chase was astonished with his finding, his eyes scanning the lines of code with a sense of awe and fascination. This was no mere software but was a technological marvel, a testament to the ingenuity and skill of its creators.

Yet, despite this unknown project's remarkable capabilities, Chase couldn't shake the sense of unease that crept into his thoughts.

His strong jawline clenched in determination as his eyes scanned the screen in front of him trying to figure out the answers to his questions regarding the code.

"Who made this code? What is it's purpose?". Such questions filled his mind and as he scrolled a little bit more he found mention of some kind of nano chip related to the project.

Chase realize that it must be something important given the detailed explanation about it's use.

He looked inside the cover of the disc and found a tiny chip inside it's own small container stuck inside the cover. He opened the small container and a chip of the size of a nano sim card popped out.

Chase didn't know what to do with this chip, and it was too risky to just dive into this unknown tech. He decided to keep the chip hidden safely somewhere for now and try to find out how accurate were the data provided by the software.
