Weisheng supported his chin with his hand, resting his elbow on the tea table. He nonchalantly nodded to her question.
"Can you… tell me?" Xiaoling asked hesitantly.
She knew the rules of the Hall well. She had recently copied the scriptures regarding the Laws of the Hall, and she was aware that sharing personal details of spirits was never allowed. She still asked in case Weisheng would rebel against the Hall and tell her - he could.
"No." But he didn't, unfortunately.
"Oh," Xiaoling disappointingly grabbed the teacup with two hands, staring at the ripples in the teacup.
Weisheng sighed, "You don't need to know his past to sympathize with him," He murmured, "Just be there for him. That's enough. Unless he chooses to tell you, don't try finding out."
Xiaoling nodded, "You're right."
