Weisheng sighed deeply and shook his head, "I wish you'd take me seriously."
Xiaoling glared at him amidst her series of laughter. He looked back at her with seriousness.
"Jokes aside," Xiaoling murmured, "We can test your little theory."
Weisheng raised an eyebrow, "How?"
"I can stop suppressing it and talk to Mr. Supreme Demon Lord firsthand," Xiaoling shrugged, "If he likes me, it shouldn't be dangerous."
"Are you joking?" Weisheng scoffed.
"Chill out, Weisheng. You only have his consciousness due to the curse. As long as he's sealed, nothing bad can happen." Xiaoling said, "And I'm a sorceress. Have some faith in me! Even a supreme consciousness can't hurt me with a mortal's body!"
Weisheng blinked. He didn't have faith in her at all.
"Weisheng!" She complained.
"Master, you were literally helpless yesterday. What if he pulls that spell on you again?" Weisheng sighed.
"Did he hurt me?" Xiaoling asked, "No, right? No harm in testing. We can test in my room. I'll put up Godmother's talisman on the walls for extra protection. How about that?"
Weisheng had nothing to say to that. It sounded like a bad idea no matter how she put it. He almost reached for the car keys to drive back to his office.
"Wait, wait!" But she stopped him, "There's one more thing."
Weisheng turned to look at her.
"About the curse… I wanted to tag along to see if you have any enemies." Xiaoling said, "But so far, the only one who dislikes you seems to be Mr. Liu."
Weisheng narrowed his eyes, "Why are you looking for my enemies?"
"Because your curse seems planned. Someone who considers you an enemy probably hired a powerful sorcerer to get this done to you," Xiaoling explained, "Because there is no way a devil wanted me to stop suppressing it. It has to be a sorcerer who ordered him to do so."
Weisheng hummed to think, "You might be right… I got into an accident before I got the curse. I always suspected the accident might be preplanned. I didn't look into it because I never found the chance."
"See?" Xiaoling held her chin up.
"In that case, it can't be Mr. Liu," Weisheng quickly said, "He might act like he hates me, but he always gives me tasks that might lead to promotions."
"A tsundere?" Xiaoling covered her mouth with her fingers while gasping.
Weisheng chuckled, "I guess that would be an accurate term."
Xiaoling dropped in her seat to think, "Then we should crack your late father's case," She looked at him, "His enemies have to be your enemies."
"You're right. My dad was murdered, and the criminal was never caught because of the missing reports that somehow Yun Shui and Cang Tao had…" He sighed, "But where do we start? If I saw Yun Shui, I don't know what I'd do."
"You should stay at my place and stick to using your brain," Xiaoling said, "Leave the investigations to me."
"That might suffice…" Weisheng murmured while looking down.
"That will suffice," Xiaoling patted his shoulder, "Trust me."
Weisheng looked at Xiaoling before looking back at the road, taking a deep breath. He was going to put his faith in her one more time.
He drove back to his office. They entered Liu Heng's office together to report their findings.
Liu Heng listened to them with satisfaction, "Wow, Yuan Yuan. You did well. I hope you taught my sister well."
Xiaoling smiled, "You don't even know how nice Mr. Yuan is!" She giggled.
"Really?" Liu Heng laughed loudly, "Yuan Yuan, you might as well get promoted for keeping Dandan happy!"
Weisheng nervously chuckled, glaring at Xiaoling from the corner of his eyes. She was so cunning.
After making the report, Weisheng and Xiaoling went back to the car. Thankfully, Liu Heng didn't live with his family, so he didn't ask Xiaoling to stay. When they got in the car, Xiaoling sent Qiang a voice message.
"Remember to drop Xiaodan at her house on time!" She said, "And make sure to tell her good things about Weisheng in case her brother asks later!"
Weisheng looked at her with a judgmental gaze. She looked at him and smiled.
"Aren't I so handy?" Xiaoling smiled with her eyes.
Weisheng nervously chuckled, "Of course."
He started the engine, twisting his eyebrows while twisting the key.
"Um, so… Should I drop you to your residence?" He asked awkwardly.
Xiaoling blinked, "No? Aren't we going to your house to pack your things?"
Weisheng gulped, "You were serious about that?"
"Obviously!" Xiaoling said, "Don't you think it's dangerous for you to live alone even if you don't see evil spirits? I might be able to suppress that, but your split personality is beyond my reach."
"You didn't have to phrase it like that," Weisheng shook his head as he started to drive to his house, "It's not a split personality."
"I can't be bothered to say Supreme Demon Lord all the time, so I'll just refer to his consciousness as a split personality~" She hummed playfully.
Weisheng sighed and kept quiet. He couldn't argue with that statement after all. He quietly drove to his apartment complex. The roads were unusually empty, so they reached the complex swiftly.
Xiaoling initially came to help him pack, but she just sat on the couch and watched TV while Weisheng packed his things. After he finished packing, they left for Xiaoling's residence.
Weisheng stopped the car in front of the residence, wondering where to park his car.
"Oh, don't worry!" Xiaoling smiled, "If you drive through the main gate, you can simply park your car in my garage!"
Weisheng looked at her skeptically, "You have a garage?"
"Of course!" Xiaoling joyfully exclaimed, "It's very big, too!"
Weisheng hummed in confusion. He drove through the main gate, reaching the seemingly garage door. It was installed with motion sensors, so it pulled open as the car reached it. Weisheng drove in, and one by one, each light on the ceiling turned on.
But that wasn't shocking.
Weisheng's jaw dropped to the ground when he saw so many sports cars lined up in the garage - so many that he couldn't count.
