Chapter 3 - The Little Jade

Weisheng gulped as he observed the woman. She had jade-like skin, beautiful round and big green eyes, and lush black hair in a traditional Chinese middle-parted style adorned with jewels. She wore a thin green Hanfu. It looked expensive. She looked like a cosplayer.

Catching a glance at such a beautiful woman after all those creepy ones felt like a dream. Weisheng almost thought he was already in the afterlife.

The woman suddenly stood, kicking her zither's bottom to make it stand with her. Even her zither was strange. It looked like it was made out of glass. It looked like a guqin but created the sound of a guzheng.

She traced the strings of her zither, and it suddenly started to disappear.

Weisheng's eyes widened, and he rubbed them. He was undoubtedly in the afterlife.

The woman suddenly walked up to him, startling him.

"Mr. Yuan Weisheng, was it?" The woman murmured in an annoyed tone, "Close your eyes," She ordered, glaring into his eyes that had turned pink.

Weisheng's eyes only widened. He swallowed the lump in his throat. The woman frowned at his sluggishness and sat down in front of him, slapping her palm on his eyes to force them close.

Her hand slowly retreated and she blew air into his eyes. Weisheng gulped loudly as her breaths struck his face. She chuckled softly, pulling away.

"You can open them now," The woman stood up and said confidently.

Weisheng opened his eyes slowly. The woman lightly smirked when she confirmed his eyes were back to being brown.

"Pretty eyes," The woman chortled, "Mr. Yuan Weisheng."

Weisheng gulped. He didn't know what to say to her. She had just saved his life from those creepy women. So he reckoned expressing gratitude would be the most appropriate response.

He slowly stood up and brushed his clothes, "Thank you for saving me," He murmured despite not being able to fully grasp the situation.

The woman smiled, "Don't mention it. I get paid for this."

Weisheng frowned in confusion, "Who are you anyway? How do you know my name?"

The woman pushed her hair behind her shoulder, "I'm your Master," She smiled.

Weisheng blinked in confusion.

She quickly turned around, "Let's go see your mother," She murmured while walking away, "I have to report this to her."

"I can't leave yet!" Weisheng stood there, "I have to find-"

"This?" She kept her back on him while pulling the case reports from her Hanfu. She hovered them around in the air before turning her head back to look at him.

Weisheng slowly nodded, "Y-Yes…"

"Then follow me," She confidently muttered while walking out of the junkyard.

Weisheng followed her sheepishly. She seemed to know what she was doing, unlike Weisheng.

Suddenly, she turned around and looked at Weisheng.

She giggled, "I forgot I don't have a ride. Where's your car again?"

Weisheng cleared his throat, "This way," He pointed, escorting her toward his car. If she didn't have the case reports, he would never let a stranger in his car no matter how beautiful she was. But here he was, driving a stranger to his mother's residence.

They were greeted by his mother casually. Weisheng's concerns had been lifted now that his mother greeted the stranger woman.

"Come in, come in," His mother seemed respectful of the woman.

They sat in the lounge, and the maids served the most exquisite refreshments in front of them.

"Oh, Madam Yuan," The woman smiled, "You don't need to do this much!"

Madam Yuan chuckled, "What are you talking about? This is the bare minimum!" She smiled. "Please help yourself! My chef here makes exquisite tea. Please try!"

The woman nodded, trying the tea right away. Weisheng quietly observed the two. He almost ignored everything strange that had happened. He sat patiently, knowing his questions would be answered soon.

"Mmm~" The woman hummed in pleasure, "Can I take this back home? I love it!"

Madam Yuan chuckled, "Of course! I will ask the butler to pack the tea leaves for you. We harvest them from our land during the best season. Their quality is unmatched!"

The woman nodded, "You deserve to be the leading businesswoman," She complimented her.

Weisheng narrowed his eyes. They seemed like casual friends.

Madam Yuan took a sip, "Shall we get down to business, then?" She asked with slight seriousness.

The woman's eyes widened before she smiled, putting her cup down on the table. Weisheng stared at her. She slowly nodded, then looked at Weisheng. Flustered, Weisheng turned away. He didn't want to look like a creep staring at her.

"If Mr. Yuan Weisheng here cooperates with me," The woman murmured, "I will gladly help him."

Madam Yuan nodded, "How will you help him? You said the Cursed Eye has no cure."

Weisheng's eyes widened. Out of respect for his mother, he quietly observed.

"No known cure, yes." The woman replied, "While I try to find the cure, Mr. Yuan Weisheng can train under me to suppress the curse to some degree."

Madam Yuan nodded, "Please!" She muttered with concern, "I am ready to pay any price!"

Weisheng frowned, "Mom," He called her, "Is this lady the Sorceress from the other day? Are you seriously going to pay a Sorceress for her strange, made-up stories?"

The woman burst into laughter, "Why ask her when you can ask me?" She asked, "Madam Yuan, you have an interesting kid."

Madam Yuan awkwardly smiled, "Weisheng, let's not disrespect our guest here. I told you her work is authentic. Your job is to cooperate. Understood?" She said sternly.

Weisheng looked away, "Yes," He replied unwillingly.

"Then please," Madam Yuan smiled and turned to the woman, "Miss Ren, I leave all matters to you. You can pick the price after working on it for a month."

The woman with the surname Ren smiled, "Don't worry, Madam Yuan. Your son is smart. He will understand in no time!"
