Chapter 38 - An accident

His expression faltered for a moment before he raised his eyebrows and said, "It's common knowledge. The case is all over the internet. You lost your phone; how would you know.?"

You made a nonchalant expression, nodding in response. Spotting Yukio and Kazuto in the corner, you decided to go meet them. Hikaru came over and started using Akira as a shield to fend off his fans.

It was ironic. These girls were over the moon for Akira just a day ago. Now they all are afraid of his eyes. Just because it is two coloured.

You reached Yukio and Kazuto and saw Yukio had confiscated Kazuto's phone so he couldn't play games, while Kazuto was making sure Yukio couldn't eat any more desserts because he'd already had too many.

"What are you both doing?" you asked, laughing at the scene.

Yukio pointed at Kazuto and said, "Preventing him from dying by walking into a wall while playing a game."

Kazuto crossed his arms and said, "Making sure he doesn't get diabetes due to his sugar intake."

Both the male were stubborn and denied the other male to do what pleasured them. So you decided to separate them.

You said to Kazuto, "Come on, let's go to the parlor." Then you whispered in his ear that you stole his phone from Yukio a while ago. Kazuto happily started to head towards the parlor while you winked at Yukio and pointed at the desserts. You also mouthed that you would take care of Kazuto.

Yukio smiled as he filled his plate with as much dessert as he could. He loved this side of you, your kindness for others. You were so kind yet so strong, so pretty and smart. He loved it. You were the perfect person to be the wife of a yakuza.

He wanted to do nothing but destroy anyone who stands between you both. Let that person be kazuto himself. He yearned for your affection. He just hoped kazuto wasn't to clingy to you. He did not want to do anything right now. After all kazuto is still his best friend.

You reached the room and plopped down on the couch, your dress sitting all around you. Patting beside you, you called Kazuto. He immediately sat down beside you and after a bit of hesitation, he put his head on your lap.

"Kazuto," you called out, "what are you doing?"

"Sleeping," he said groggily.

"I know, I can see. But you are sleeping in my lap," you said.

"So?" he replied, still half asleep.

You sighed and rolled your eyes, deciding to let it be. Then you asked, "What is your password? I wanna play COD."

"Ad_7%^€¢," he mumbled before drifting off to sleep again.

He was in fact not sleeping . He was enjoying the feeling. He loved it. It felt like home. You felt like home to him. Someone he could not lose ever to anyone. He kept silent as he heard you playing the game but very soon he really drifted off to sleep.

You smiled and played cod for couple minutes suspecting him to be awake. Then after a while you started to scroll through his phone, finding the news of the death of Riley and Michigan.

The articles were short and the reason for their deaths was not thoroughly explained. Definitely no article you read mentioned any impaling by a hammer.

Your eyes narrowed in suspicion. Did Akira logically think about it, or was the information leaked to him? Either way, he lied about it being on the internet.

Kazuto shifted in his sleep, his hands reaching upwards. You caught them with your other hand while you continued to scroll.

You found two pictures of yours from today and scrolled to the next thing in his gallery. It was a video from some CCTV.

But before you could watch it, someone opened the door, startling you. You quickly swiped to the COD app.

You were shocked to see Lily accompanied by Hayami and Aya, along with a dozen other girls. Their intentions did not look pure.

You mentally winced, anticipating the interaction that was about to happen. Slowly, you kept Kazuto's head on the couch.

"Bitch, you were seducing another one of them," the girl with freckles said, the one Akira scared earlier.

"Not here," you said slowly.

"Why.? Not so brave now are we" another one said.

You glared at her.

"Let's go to the adjacent parlor. Only the host or their partner can give permission for others to enter there," Lily said.

"Yeah, okay," you said, and they all followed you to that room, closing the door behind them as everyone cornered you.

The only other route out of the room would lead to the central staircase, and you would not like to create a spectacle.

" What is it.? " You asked sighing

Lily slapped you " Don't act innocent. You not only got them expelled but also killed riley and Michigan "

All the others agreed while Hayami tapped Lily's shoulder to get her attention. "We shouldn't accuse her of that big of a crime," she said, trying to calm the situation.

Aya stepped up and pulled Hayami back, disagreeing. "You were blinded by her fake personality. She can murder someone. She is brutal," Aya insisted.

Two girls threateningly walked towards you, but you scoffed at them, unfazed by their intimidation tactics.

If I did murder someone. I would not leave behind their bodies. No body no crime.

You backed away a bit, warning them, "I don't think you should do that. You will get hurt."

Aya menacingly said, "You have already hurt me enough. Now it's my chance to pay you back twofold."

You massaged your cheek, feeling the sting of the slap, and looked at your friend with sadness.

It was shocking how a simple misunderstanding could lead to such animosity and violence.

You took another step back, feeling the door pressing against your back. Beyond it lay the central staircase, but you hoped they wouldn't push you any further.

You had no intention of hurting them, no matter how aggressive they became.

The girl with freckles came forward again, her voice laced with venom. "You didn't even leave the teachers alone. I saw how chummy you were with Chozuro sensei," she spat with disgust. "Your family is the reason his family went bankrupt. They even had to abandon the summer camp."

Hayami protested, saying you didn't flirt with teacher and that they were going too far. But her attempts were futile.

"Summer camp," you repeated, and it clicked. It made sense.

"You're dead, Ikari," both Aya and Lily said, stepping forward, which finally pushed you back. You opened the door, revealing the whole ordeal to everyone in the ballroom.

Aya tried to punch you, but you easily avoided her. You could see the boys heading towards you, but they were too far. Lily tried to kick you, but you caught her leg and twisted it. They both seemed sluggish, or should you say drugged.

They got up again, standing at the edge of the stairs. Fearing they would fall, you tried to pull them, but they pushed your hand away.

Their balance was broken, and they both went spiraling down the stairs. There was nothing you could do to stop it.

"She pushed them!" the girl with the freckles shouted.

"NO, NOO!" Hayami cried out.

You ran down towards their fallen bodies, warm blood seeping out of them. You tried to stop it, but you couldn't.

Subaru was the first to reach the site after you, his hands quivering as he saw the blood. His eyes closed. He was not in good condition.

Soon Akira and Yukio reached. They checked their bodies and then solemnly looked at you.

"They're dead," Akira declared.

There were gasps all around you. Inoue emerged from the crowd and hugged Aya's body, his eyes blurred with tears, his voice hoarse from all the shouting.

You looked at Subaru; he was taken away by Hikaru, slightly regaining his composure.

Someone shouted, "Call the police!" And someone else dialed. Soon, the place was filled with noise - ambulance and police cars. No one was allowed out.

Two bodies covered with plain white cloth lay a few feet away from you. They were dead, and you could do nothing.

You saw police taking statements from all the witnesses. Half of them said you pushed the girls, while the other half said they fell on their own. Subaru, regaining his composure, gave his statement. But the person he was talking to wasn't a police officer.

The guy was wearing a tweed waistcoat, an ensemble that was quite British. His eyes were storm grey, quite similar to Subaru's. His hair was blonde. He looked at you and started to walk towards you. You felt something familiar.

"I am Ethan Howards. The detective on this case," he said, holding his hands out.

You looked at your blood-stained hands and refused to shake his hands. His eyes slightly narrowed.

He said, "I understand the situation. According to the CCTV, you did not push them, but they fell on their own. But until the forensic report comes, you cannot leave this city."

You nodded.

He started to walk away, but you called out, "Why is a member of the Howard family helping the local police?" You asked.

Ethan looked at you. "Because your brother asked me to help you," he said plainly and left.

Your older brother helped you. You were not happy. The reason being, this did not happen when Ichigo was in trouble.

You stood up to go home. Even if it's empty, it's yours. You will find more solace there than you would here.

You started to walk out, but you saw Hayami and Inoue hugging each other, tears in their eyes. Guilt building in you, you tried to sneak past, but Hayami called you.

"Asuna."

You stopped. You did not wish to face her wrath. Losing two friends was enough; you could not lose another.

"Yes," you said.

And she hugged you, tears dropping on your shoulders. Inoue soon joined, and three of you broke down, crying in each other's arms.

From far away, Yukio balled his fist at the sight of Inoue touching you. He wasn't the only one angry, but Subaru blocked their way with his hands.

"Patience," he said, as the two watched them comforting each other.

"Why does he get to do that" Kazuto complained

Rolling his eyes akira said "stop whining like kids"

Yukio growled while kazuto just stomped little farther away.

They finally saw you getting up to leave. Subaru intercepted you before you could leave. You promised them you would get home safely.

"Are you okay?" he asked, concern tinged his voice.

You nodded.

"But I should be the one asking you. Are you afraid of blood?" you asked.

He turned his face away, his grey eyes looking up at the moon.

"Yes," he admitted.

As you passed the entrance, you saw Lily's mother clinging to her cold body. You saw it again. Lily's face, and then her dress. It was white, so pure yet stained with blood. She looked like an angel.

Subaru looked at you and asked if you would like to stay with them in their penthouse. You declined, saying you just wanted him to drop you home.

Subaru got his car out, and you bid farewell to the rest of the boys. The car ride was silent. He dropped you home, and you walked till your front gate. Subaru insisted that he would see you get in, but you just told him to go.

Seeing how stubborn you were, he left. You stood there for a moment before it started to heavily pour down.

As you got soaked, your blood-stained hands started to wash out. Yet it felt like they were still red.

Red with guilt.

You opened your door to see everything out of place someone had been inside. Of course they left in hurry since security system clicked in and all the confidential items and filed were kept safe.

Not caring at how messy the room is you first looked around for your cat.

You called out your ginger cat.

" Kyo, kyo " You shouted, looking for him.

Finally your ginger tabby emerged out of the corner of the room. You immediately ran and hugged her. He looked like always naughty. You would bet he hurt the intruder.

You checked the camera in his collar to see if you caught anything.

You were right. Kyo did scratch someone. He scratched the intruder on his face. Due to the dark you cannot see the face, but a scar on face is a pretty big evidence.

You patted his head " Fish for you tomorrow "

" Meow meowww meow"

You smiled and removed the file from the place you hid it. The file with CONFIDENTIAL written in bold.

You watched it as it burned down to the very crisp. After you were satisfied no one could ever get their hands on the file you went up to sleep.
