The two slowly woke up, feeling a sense of vigilance seep into their minds as they shook off the warmth of being cuddled up just a moment before, their focus shifting to the loud pounding noises coming from below.
A notification from the system swiftly drew my attention as an elaborate and menacing long blade materialized in my grasp. Its edges resembled jagged saw teeth, showcasing a striking dark-violet hue that emitted an aura of ominous power.
[ Purchase: Blade of the violet-torn demon. ]
"Here, use this for now," I said, as I reached out my arm towards Violet with the blade held securely in hand.
Violet simply blankly stared at my extended hand, almost as if she were frozen in time, her snow-white and seemingly delicate face betraying visible confusion.
"Just take it!" I ordered in an annoyed tone.
She swiftly grabbed the blade as I start walking down the stairs; an oppressive aura of bloodlust enveloped the once tranquil living room, intensifying with the menacing presence of the beasts and mutant zombies pouring in through the violently destroyed door.
"ROAARR!!"
A two-headed wolf-like beast roared, swiftly charging towards me.
The duo quickly raised their weapon in hand, ready to battle any foe that may come their way.
Kiyo swiftly charged into the battlefield, causing tremor to the ground beneath him, it cracked in an intricate web-like pattern as he launched himself towards the approaching enemies; following his lead, Violet swiftly joined in to support their relentless advance.
Amidst the chaotic horde, the dynamic duo stood shoulder to shoulder, their synchronized movements resembling a mesmerizing dance amidst the tumultuous battlefield. The swift slashes of Kiyo's blade painted dark-red afterimages in the air, intertwining with the eerie dark-purple trails that Violet's swift hand movements left behind with every graceful twist.
With each swift movements of their mesmerizing dance, a group of beheaded beasts and zombies fall to the ground, lifeless.
I know they're already dead, its just that they now died twice!
Kiyo's POV
"Watch out! Behind you!" I urgently alerted, readying my blade, which charged forward swiftly with a quick, decisive move to protect you from the imminent danger.
With our faces mere inches apart, our eyes locked in a dumbfounded gaze, time seemed to stretch as we stood there, engaged in a silent battle before seamlessly transitioning back into our dance-like exchange of attacks with the enemies.
It all happened in a matter of less than a second, yet…
'Ughh! Now's not the time for these bullshits!'
Pulling myself out of daze.
…
Two people, their faces and bodies covered with blood, whether their own or their enemies', stood shoulder to shoulder in a living room bathed in crimson chaos, evidence of a catastrophic battle that had unfolded within its walls; the room itself, once somewhat spacious, now felt confined by the mountains of fallen bodies scattered throughout.
"Huaaaa…."
A soft and calming voice resounded in the now silent villa, taking a deep breathe of air.
"We finally wiped out these bastards," Violet grumpily said, her brows furrowed. "How did they even know there were people inside?"
"Hmm…" As if a comical light bulb appeared on top of Kiyo, "There has to be someone or some creature controlling these guys."
"First of all, beasts and zombies always battle for power, they just can't coexist! Yet they joined force to specifically enter the villa we occupy." He explained.
"So… are we being targeted?" Violet asked, regrets filled her head.
'Ughh! I shouldn't have come with this disastrous bastard; how unlucky am I to be paired with him…' she lamented silently.
"Well, it might be related to the disappearance of the Tier 3 and higher creatures." He concluded.
He sighed before adding, " Let's rest for…." Before he could finish, realization struck them both.
They both reddened, turning their heads away from each other.
Sensing the awkward atmosphere, "I'll keep guard for tonight, there might be another attack.." He suggested.
Violet gladly accepted, not wanting to spend the night sleeping beside him and 'accidentally' cuddling up each other.
Well, its not too bad.
This battle clearly indicated a fortuitous encounter. Their cooperation with each other was very good.
It even appeared like a dance if someone were to look at them in battle.
Kiyo was in charge of eliminating all "Boss-level" opponent whilst Violet clears up the "Minions" or weaker foes.
This is simply harassing people!
How could others live fighting against this duo?!
Well, its not like zombies are alive anyway.
After working together, they basically grew closer.
This was the power of teamwork!
They didn't even sustain a single scratch nor any injury battling multiple Tier 3 beasts and zombies.
Moreover, when the "Boss-level" beast or the two-headed dog wanted to escape, Kiyo himself, wouldn't be able to stop it alone.
Yet they were able to trap it before letting Violet land the final blow.
"Yawn…" Violet felt sleepy after all that intense battle; she quickly ran upstairs to rest, leaving Kiyo alone to fix their temporary shelter.
'Ahhh! I can't tolerate this woman! She didn't even help fix the broken entrance!'
"System, how much Vilume had been earned this time?"
[ Ding! Calculating Vilume from killed enemies…
A total of 3420 Vilume has been acquired by the host, the higher the tier of the killed foe the higher the reward.
Balance: 14010 ]
Huh?
14 thousand??
[ The subordinates of the Host has eliminated a fairly large amount of mutants and beasts, earning a huge amount of Vilume. ]
"oh.."
It seemed like these guys haven't been slacking off either!
"System, what exactly is the function of my Domain Ability: Replicate?"
[ The host will find out the use and importance of skills after the first cataclysm…
Note: However, these events didn't occur on the Host's past life, it is one of the effect for unlocking the system functions. ]
"Cataclysm… Shit doesn't sound like a good thing to me."
[ The cataclysm is necessary for the Host's development towards the peak power of the universe.
"To reach new heights, one must be willing to leave old realities behind. Growth is the fruit of sacrifice."
