Chapter 15 - Hybrid

"Get off me!" Arima explodes in a rage of anger, a blast sending Arius off of Arima and pushing her to the ground.

Arima screams in agony as his entire body starts morphing, his skin bursting open as pale white hands erupt from his back. They sprout into a tree that surrounds his entire body, covering him in a cocoon of hands.

"What the fuck!" Arius is completely caught off-guard by the giant ball of floating hands. "That's the sign!" Arius shouts into the bracelet on her arm, communicating with Denji. She stands in front of Arima, her shirt blowing in the wind, her burgundy red hair flailing aimlessly. She takes a moment to look at the glob of hands and notices it's slowly opening up. "I'm not paid enough!" Arius stomps on the ground, creating a hole and jumping back into the train.

"Where did he go?" Joorie and Sasorie scanned through every carriage only to find no presence of Denji. "He couldn't have completely disappeared." Sasorie thinks rationally, taking a moment to scan the area. He noticed that the air had gone still, the smell of cigarettes lingering in the air.

"Tsk!" He walks towards the ventilation system and injects his hands into the vents, sending an electric current straight into the train's internal system.

The entire train screams as all the lights shatter and break, cascading glass all over the metallic floor. The train loses all power and stops moving mid-way through, decelerating.

"This way he can't keep hiding!" Sasorie looks up and down the halls of the train carriages and sees Denji on the direct opposite side, holding Arius by the collar as he smashes the ground, destroying the metallic chain that chained the two carriages together.

"Good luck!" He removes the chain and the cockpit starts moving, its lighter weight allowing it to continue moving further than the main bulk of the train.

"He wanted you to do that!" Joorie bites her lip and starts charging towards Denji, running through all the carriages to reach the other end of the train on all fours. However, the lighter cart was decelerating at a slower rate, creating a gap too big for Joorie to jump without potentially smashing her head against the still fast-moving train.

Denji wraps himself and Arius in a veil of mosquitoes that disappears after a short moment, instantly teleporting Denji and Arius out of harm's way. "He got away!" Joorie turns around to look at Sasorie but there's someone else on the train standing between the two of them. Someone different.

"Woah..." Sasorie feels a singular drop of sweat run down his back, an electric current shooting through his spine. Fight or flight.

"That's not..." Even Joorie looked on with fear in his eyes as this creature stood tall and proud in the glistening sun.

Its bright white wings fluttered in the air as the fingers on its back curled up. Two giant pair of hands covered where his eyes should be, erupting out from his sockets, forming frills. Its mouth was gaping wide and its body was slender yet still humanoid. From his back were giant wings made of severed hands, the pale white feathers made of fingers and the blood dripping off of them. His white hair flowed upwards wildly like a glacial storm. A mist emits from his body like an aura, radiating a presence that could be felt through the entire length of the train. "That's the Axolotl Chimera," Joorie said as she slowly advanced toward the Chimera.

"Yo, Arima?" Sasorie called out for Arima but didn't receive a reply, the Chimera standing there, idle. "Arima!" Sasorie clenches his fists, charging up the electricity.

"Monster." Arima, no, the Chimera spoke. Its gaping wide mouth opened and revealed a black gaping hole. His form was still incomplete, his body still humanoid. He was the hybrid between the Axolotl Chimera and a human. The Axolotl Chimera.

The Axolotl Chimera looks up and stares into the general vicinity of Sasorie. His eyes were covered by the palms of the hands that grew from its eyes, the fingers on the side of his face resembling that of the frills of an Axolotl. His upper half had turned completely white, and from his shoulder to his fingertips were also the same shade of white. In his midsection, the white transitioned to Arima's natural skin color.

"Arima!" Sasorie shouts at the Axolotl hybrid, unaware of what to do. He had never seen such a grotesque and mortifying hybrid before. It was more of a conglomerate of humans in the shape of an Axolotl.

Before Sasorie could even react, the Axolotl Hybrid lunges towards Sasorie and clings him to the ground, his pale white hands around Sasorie's neck, constricting his breathing. Joorie springs into action and bites the hybrid on the neck, causing it to loosen its grip on Sasorie.

Sasorie cries out in exasperation as he catches his breath, pushing the hybrid back with his feet. "Detox!" Joorie injects Sasorie with two syringes in his leg, instantly giving him a jump in his step.

"Agh!" The hybrid screams in agony as he uses both of his hands to simultaneously grab Sasorie and Joorie. Both of them are powerless in the beast's hands, their arms flailing as the hybrid claps his hands together, crushing both of their bodies against one another.

Sasorie cries in pain as he erupts in a wave of electricity, singeing the hands of the hybrid. He screeches as the scream vibrates through the air, piercing both of their ears.

"Arima's gone buck-fucking wild!" Joorie creates four syringes out of thin air. "Damage, speed, reflex, and durability!" She injects them straight into Sasorie's back, his muscles bulging larger and fuller. He grew in height as the fin on his back grew larger and sharper.

"Are you sure this will work?" Sasorie turns around and looks at Joorie, their eyes locking in as Joorie shakes her head. "I'll do it."

Sasorie takes a deep breath in and places his hands on his chest, filling his cheeks with air.

The hybrid looks at him with an air of suspicion and curiosity. What was he going to do?

"Electrifying Currents!" A lightning bolt strikes Sasorie from the sky, melting through the hard metallic ceiling. Sasorie's entire body glowed like a light bulb, the skin on his hands literally as hot as plasma.

The hybrid merely smiled as it went in to punch Sasorie. As his mist made contact with Sasorie's chest, his fingers instantly evaporated at the mere contact.

He stood there, his entire fist melted onto the floor as his forearm was right up to his chest.

Sasorie's new form: Electrifying current, turned his whole body into electricity. His fin became the shape of a lightning bolt and his eyes started to produce electric currents, his entire body turning into that of an eel's. His mouth was wide and stretched across his whole face, his teeth razor sharp.

Across his chest were two stripes of lightning that formed an x, his pants nearly ripping as his muscles expanded and grew larger. "I don't want to do this Arima." He grabs the hybrid's forearm and his fingers melt through his arm like a knife through butter.

The hybrid pulled back its arm and Sasorie could even tell he damaged him, the arm had already regrew.

"What-" Sasorie was caught off guard as he received a kick to the face, the agile hybrid delivering a lethal kick to the face. However, even though he was made of plasma, the speed at which he kicked caused the air molecules to shift around him and create a shock wave that caused Sasorie to fly out of the train. His hot plasma body caused the hybrid's entire leg to completely melt off, but by the moment he placed it back down, it had already regenerated.

Joorie made eye contact with the hybrid, at least she tried to. Her eyes locked on the two disembodied hands on his face. He looked just like Arima, only his eyes were covered and his body was a pale white. The hybrid, even as his eyes were covered by hands, locked onto Joorie.

"Shi-" Joorie ducked her head downwards and raised her arm to block any incoming attack, yet she didn't feel anything.

"Friend." The hybrid placed his hand on her shoulder. However, the hybrid was biting his lip so hard that he started to bleed. His teeth had dug so deep into his lower lip that it had nearly torn off. Yet, as he pulled his teeth out of his own flesh, the very exact moment his lip had regrew.

Joorie looked at the hybrid with absolute fear in her eyes. In her countless years of being a hunter, she's never encountered something so terrifying. Something so terrible.

"Don't you dare lay a hand on her!" Sasorie stood at the entrance of the hole his body had made from the kick. "I'll fucking kill you myself!" Calorie leaped at the hybrid with both of his fists, charging forward.

The hybrid covered his face to block the oncoming attack but Sasorie had pivoted mere inches away from the hybrid's face and burned a hole through the ceiling, positioning himself directly above the hybrid as he prepared an all-out attack.

"Volcanic Discharge!"
