Empress Bai had once listened to Wen Mingye play Kindred Spirits;a song composed by Mizi Yue. Empress Bai loved the song but she wished she would hear the composer play it himself. She thought the melody would sound more natural if the composer played the piece himself. Since Mizi Yue had returned to Mingzhou,she took the opportunity to invite him to play her the piece. Mizi Yue prepared himself and picked up his Qin in the afternoon and left. On his way to the palace,he chanced upon Wen Mingye and Jinxiu Shan in a carriage heading to the palace as well.Wen Mingye stopped the carriage to talk to him.
"Are you going to the palace?"
"Yes ."
"Come in I will give you a ride ."
Mizi Yue immediately boarded the carriage. Jinxiu Shan who was seated beside Wen Mingye stretching out his legs ,changed his seating position and sat across from Wen Mingye. Mizi Yue sat beside Wen Mingye.
"I heard my mother invited you over to the palace play the Qin for her."
