Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: It's Really Cold

Afterward, Lu Chen remained calm, and all his vital signs were transmitted to the screen on the other side, reassuring those inside the base.

General Anthony didn't allow any metal objects to enter the room. It wasn't because of electromagnetic interference or concern for Lu Chen's safety; rather, he knew the danger posed by this young man.

The cage designed by the master of mechanics was not flawless. Everything had two sides. The construction of the cage was mechanically perfect internally, with every force evenly distributed, creating the perfect effect we see now.

However, if there were external forces, such as a sufficiently hard object colliding with certain stress points at extreme speed, the entire force transmission chain could collapse in an instant!

Of course, calculating which points could achieve this effect was extremely difficult. Even a physics PhD using a computer would take several days to deduce a few points.

But the cautious General Anthony never entrusted safety to the foolishness of the enemy, especially since he knew that as an Eastern Secret Blood Warrior, Lu Chen was also a master of mechanics!

So even if it angered the prestigious person inside, he must prohibit all metal items from entering the room.

Lu Chen remained calm; he was waiting and "calculating."

General Anthony overestimated him in some aspects. Lu Chen was never good at math, so calculating the optimal "stress points" from a mathematical perspective was impossible for him.

But General Anthony also severely underestimated him in some respects. Lu Chen had never fought with concepts of numbers or vectors. He relied solely on vast combat experience and innate intuition.

Metal items were not necessary for him. Any object with mass that could rebound easily would suffice, just like the tiny silicone bead on the ground.

Time passed slowly, probably around half-past five in the morning, the most exhausted and relaxed moment for the night watchmen.

Under the cold light, Lu Chen slowly opened his eyes.

Air flowed into his body through his nostrils. This was an extremely long breath. Oxygen transformed through the lungs, the heart rate began to rise, blood flow accelerated, and body temperature increased.

At this moment, all of Lu Chen's vital signs were rising, like a hibernating bear awakening. The process was slow and gradual, with no significant fluctuations in vital signs, so the monitoring alarm remained silent.

Until a critical point, Lu Chen suddenly inhaled sharply. Qi and blood in his body surged like an explosion, like a volcano erupting, unleashing a towering tsunami, vowing to devour everything.

His heart rate skyrocketed from 50 beats per minute to 180 in an instant!

Strength erupted like magma, the smooth muscles hidden under the iron coffin bulged, and the muscles on his back tightened like steel bars on a fishing reel.

In an instant, the iron coffin bulged up, higher than ever before, on the verge of collapse.

The alarm sounded, and Lu Chen exhaled, creating a thunderous explosion.

The silent bead on the ground was propelled by the impact, hitting the walls several times before colliding with the now arched iron coffin.

Limited by its own mass, the bead carried a force of 1N, or even less.

It was like an arrow shooting towards fate, its target being its throat!

The sound of impact was faint, barely audible over the blaring alarm.

The arched iron coffin resembled a snow-capped mountain range, welcoming the final shout at its peak. In an instant, everything was overturned, like an avalanche!

"Boom—"

Countless titanium fragments scattered, and the young man knelt down and stood up, his long, untrimmed black hair swaying.

In that moment, it seemed as if a demon suppressed for thousands of years had emerged, and the piercing alarm sounded like the hymn of believers.

"Power on! Ventilation!"

The commander in the security room noticed the anomaly the moment the iron coffin arched, but before he could give the order, Lu Chen had already escaped.

Inside the room, pale-yellow gas rushed in, emitting a hissing sound. The floor was already electrified due to his previous actions, and now the platform he was on was also charged with high voltage.

However, the people here were still too slow. Even the table on which the iron coffin was placed could conduct electricity. Lu Chen knew this early on, so the moment he broke free, he flipped backward and landed on the wall behind the small room.

Perhaps overconfident in the mechanical engineering master, the room was not impregnable. There were poison gas inlets on all sides, but no high voltage.

The force of his backward leap was immense. Lu Chen stood barefoot on the wall, his knees bent, his calf muscles bulging, reminiscent of a ferocious beast.

"Bang—"

The sound of breaking through the air and the wall collapsing simultaneously resounded. Lu Chen shot out like a cannonball, his target being the circular steel door.

In mid-air, he pulled back his right arm, the tense muscles as strong as steel, and power surged like a tide.

"Boom—"

Accompanied by the splatter of crimson blood, the circular steel door flew out and embedded itself in the wall of the corridor, causing the entire base to tremble.

The door was sturdy, but the wall was not strong enough.

Lu Chen grabbed the edge of the wall with one hand, swung, and effortlessly escaped from the room that had imprisoned him for two years.

He stretched his neck, emitting crackling sounds from his bones. He hadn't moved in a long time, and his body was stiff.

The knuckles of his right hand cracked, blood still flowing, but he paid no attention to it, just as he paid no attention to the soldiers with assault rifles rushing towards him.

Outside the base, the two guards on duty watched as General Anthony led the troops into the base, feeling like floating weeds swept away by a storm, but they dared not leave their posts or follow the general's footsteps.

The sounds of gunfire accompanied by the alarm were like a grand hymn, but it didn't bring joy; instead, it made them feel weak-kneed.

Less than five minutes later, the sounds of gunfire inside the base disappeared, leaving only the piercing alarm.

After another minute, just as the two were preparing to gather their courage and enter with their Berettas, they faintly heard footsteps, the unique sound of military boots, and breathed a sigh of relief.

It must be General Anthony. He was walking so calmly; it seemed that he had already suppressed the situation.

It should have been this way long ago. Spending resources in this remote place was pointless; it would be better to kill the boy once and for all.

"Anto—"

As Kuri turned around to salute, the words froze in his throat. The person in front of him was indeed wearing a military uniform and military boots, walking casually, but he was not General Anthony.

The other guard, Brian, who was relieving stress with a cigarette, dropped his smoke at the sight.

This is bad!

That was the thought of both of them.

Seeing the young man raise his hand, Kuri even gave up drawing his gun. Just now, inside...an entire company died! And those people were fully armed, while they only had Berettas.

But their unintentional actions saved their lives. Lu Chen didn't kill them; he simply took the cigarette box and lighter from Brian's hand and walked past the two of them.

After lighting one, taking a deep drag, he looked at the rising sun and the lonely drifting snowflakes. Exhaling smoke mingled with mist, he casually remarked:

"It's really cold."
