Chereads / The king of all lands / Chapter 5 - THE FALL OF THE DOOM (5)

Chapter 5 - THE FALL OF THE DOOM (5)

Somewhere in a stray island out of many in an archipelago to the south east of Count's shore.

A young girl could be seen preparing tea.

The house was rather modest and it looked rather shabby. It was just a wooden one.

But the place it was in was rather mysterious.

Only trees filled the place it was around.

The moon was giving its luminescent ray to the denizens.

But this house seemed capable to manage even without rays of light , as many light sources powered by Energiya filled the place.

The girl who seemed to be around the age of 18 soon took the prepared tea in a tray and set off to a room.

Just when she was about to enter the room as usual , she saw the person she was most familiar with, on the ground clenching his heart.

"Grandpa!" she screamed and let the tea fall to the ground.

Without wasting any time , she soon took her grandpa into her embrace , and fed him some water that she mysteriously took out from somewhere.

Grandpa looked like he was out of his wits. He was sweating bones and the matter of his predicament was unclear.

The girl kept on questioning him , but he wouldn't reply. He was taken aback quite considerably.

After some time passed , it seemed his condition was getting somewhat better.

The girl helped him to his bed and made him sit.

"Grandpa , what happened? I was... frightened you know , that something happened to you."

Even though his condition was better , he had a grim expression.

"Sorry... Elizabeth I made you to worry. This old... man seems to be a burden."

"Grandpa..." she began her voice shaky "Don't say that..."

Her grandpa was the only person she knew. Although she knew many people down the forest in the town , still she was the closest to her grandpa.

Her parents died a long time ago...

"Haha" the grandpa forced a smile. Still he was shaken. At least he was happy with the fact that the little girl liked her old grandpa.

After some time , he decided to let the chicken out of the basket.

"A great doom has fallen on to the world."

"... What?" the girl couldn't help but shake her head.

"My senses were ...overtaken and the nauseating feeling I got... led to me clenching my heart and sweating profusely."

The young girl pondered.

Her grandpa was someone blessed with the innate ability to read the celestial energy , that was just a state that energiya was in.

The celestial energy was what powered the immortal sun , moon , predicated someone's fate, the changing weather and so on.

It was one of the prominent states the energiya was in at a given time.

To be blessed with a talent that bestowed an ability to read this was very rare and often that not , it was a high level ability.

Even to learn abilities pertaining to this took a lot of talent and innate closeness.

There was just silence. No one spoke further.

The girl kept on caressing her grandpa's back calming him down , while also pondering to herself.

The predictions grandpa made over the last 18 years she knew him never went wrong.

He could never be wrong. Atleast in her own eyes.

Well , his words were indeed true....

----

Bayezid lay on his magnificent bed just pondering to himself while watching the ceiling above. It was very late in night.

Today too was a lot of work and he hated work... to be honest.

The country's situation the more he heard about it , the more dire it sounded.

Well regarding that , did he take any major initiatives to solve it?

Of course not.

He was a grown up kid with just the basic education in reading , writing and arithmetic. The advanced knowledge he knew was just the technical knowledge about computers that led him to land a job.

He didn't even have a high iq back in his previous world.

Although he had probably considerable intelligence right now... still he lacked knowledge.

He still didn't know economy, political affairs, military affairs, sociology and so on.

For now , all he commanded the ministers to do was just take a major survey.

The survey would give him the latest information on the country's demographics, geography, resources , political affairs, military affairs and of course the economy.

It was basically a census.

The current information they had was from a census 7 years ago , too outdated.

Even though the ministers provided with some current information in their field of expertise , it was still very much incomplete.

He needed full information to take action.

Although time was of essence , still it wasn't like a country would just be destroyed overnight right?

Even though rebels were at high , the economy was down... with the war almost at being a stalemate , Erlands was slowly getting back to the track thanks to Jass and others meticulous efforts , given of course in the future , no external factors came in and ruined it.

So he just let them do the same job until he gained more knowledge and information.

Not to mention... more power.

1 month later---

Bayezid was currently placing back a book containing information about Silliands back on the shelves.

He was currently in the royal library in the palace of Lawnlow.

As the name suggested , it was truly magnificent.

There wasn't dust or squalor anywhere and it was regularly cleaned with the collective efforts of the maids.

The books were all bound with expensive materials and made up of top quality paper.

The stairs were made with meticulous craftsmanship , windows and balconies kept just at right corners to give enough lumination.

At the middle of the library , the ceiling was painted with many legends of the clan Athreya.

"You are truly hardworking." a man in his middle age said towards Bayezid with a smile.

He was just a simple , ordinary man who didn't care if it was the king who was reading a book or a maid who was bottom of the hierarchy.

He was the head librarian of the royal palace.

As long as someone appreciated the art of collecting knowledge and came here to learn things , he from his bottom of heart appreciated them.

The royal library was open to all serving in the royal palace. Be it the maids , the gardeners , the guards.

Persons of great intrigue and who excelled in certain fields were also invited to gain knowledge from the rich collection of books in the library.

Of course , the library had some portions which was not accessible to everyone but still as it was open 24/7 , with always some librarians under duty to help someone with queries , it was fairly popular among the people in the palace.

One could see a low guard trying to learn the theory of some movement arts , late in the night after his shift was over.

"You flatter me , head librarian Zhang Ye Athreya."

Usually one addressed the others without their clan name or family name if they were on friendly terms or were superior to them.

Using other's clan's name usually indicated the addressed person's superior status or just the respect the person held towards the addressed person...

All in all the clan name of someone carried great weight towards it.

After all not everyone carried a clan name in the first place as most people were clan less or didn't have a family name.

"Oh , your majesty , Im not someone meant for flattery. Im just a servant for knowledge who has dedicated his entire life to it. To address me using the clan's name... Im truly honoured."

Bayezid just flashed a smile. Then he calmly said in soothing tone.

"Well aren't you a member of the great Athreya clan? Even though you might be from a humble bloodline , still by just being in the great clan, don't you need to be addressed by the surname?"

"This servant is truly humbled your majesty." the man simply bowed down. His majesty's words carried great weight.

His words further strengthened the already wild fires that were in his heart dedicated to clan Athreya.

Bayezid then seemed to ponder something.

"Hmm... Head Librarian , do you have any suggestions on what we can do in terms of education for the country?"

This question was something that puzzled Bayezid.

Seven schools existed in the country.

But these schools themselves were only accessible to the rich people of the society but even then, the education given there could only be considered subpar compared to rest of golden rock.

Especially when compared to The Spiralstone Windheld Royal academy located in Count's shore, which to attend, people came from all over golden rock.

So considering the lack of good education , how about setting up more schools? wasn't it that simple?

Even though it was a good idea , it was not a plausible idea.

For one , setting up schools took good money.

Second , the personnel needed to run schools should be highly trained and usually needed to be invited from other countries. Not to mention this took a lot of money.

In other words , whatever world one was in , money was god.

"Your majesty , this question has equally baffled me. It always pained my heart to see that the common man of the country even lacked basic knowledge."

The head librarian then went on and on with his ideas for 10 minutes.

Bayezid listened to every ideas keenly. The ideas were more or less intelligible and plausible.

The head librarian could have done a great job if he was the minister of education.

Alas, only the people from the top bloodlines could audition for the position of ministers.

Bayezid then gave his farewell and soon took off for his second location.

The training grounds.

---

The training grounds was located at a vacant place of the palace.

On one corner , one could see many shields and weapons ranging from swords , swear , bows arranged neatly and polished to the extent that it looked almost new. This showed how much the warriors who trained here showed respect to the art of battle.

Some places were covered with cement and bricks while others were covered with sand.

There were some rooms reserved for training alone. But these rooms were only reserved for the top soldiers and top ranking officials.

Everywhere one could see soldiers and knights fighting with each other. All of them carried bruises , cuts and were sweaty due to training for who knew how long.

As soon as they saw Bayezid everyone bowed down to show their respects.

Baeyzid just told them to continue what they were doing and then went to one of the private training room.

The inside of the training room was more or less simple. It was like a miniature version of the training room, thats it.

Not paying heed to the design of the room , Bayezid soon found a corner and sat down.

He then closed his eyes and concentrated on the energy swirling in the environment.

Usually , depending on the understanding of Energiya and the person's talent , it would take some time to identify the energiya that could be "absorbed."

Anyone could sense Evergiya. But only that energiya could be absorbed that is in "free" state.

This was less than 10 percent of the entire energiya existing in this world.

So thats why it took some time to identify it and absorb it.

But talking about Bayezid... it didn't matter if he concentrated or not. As long as he thought about absorbing energiya , his body would automatically start to absorb energiya.

This was true , even when he was doing tasks like sleeping , walking or even sparring.

Even though he could absorb it during these situations , the efficiency in each situation varied greatly.

Like when sparring , he would be lucky to absorb the 10 percent of Energiya he absorbed when absorbing in seclusion.

The energiya slowly started to enter his body. It disturbed the environment around him. The air seem to distort and his ears picked some eerie sounds.

He heard sounds as though he was near some portal making eerie sounds due to the space distorting around it.

The energiya swirled in his body as though wanting to find a spot to be stored. Bayezid still didn't have meridians in his body. He only had core and dantian.

He soon guided the energy through the help of his blood circulatory system to the core located near his heart and the dantian located in his abdomen.

He was assaulted with waves of refreshment once he successfully integrated the energiya in his energy sources.

It had been a month since he came to this world.

He was already close to achieving first tier middle level in both arcane and movement arts.

If he had only concentrated on one , then he could have even reached the high level.

Concentrating on both the arts were absurd and unheard of. Thats why even with this high talent , it was taking a lot of time.

The middle level in movement arts involved strengthening the outer covering of dantian , making it transform from a layer of flesh to a layer of stone.

This was to ensure more energiya could be be used efficiently without the threat of it leaking out.

There was a limit to how much energiya once could absorb and expend in each stages of movement arts.

If one could absorb unlimited energiya in their body , then it would just be absurd.

They would probably explode from the amount of energiya in their body or if they were able to hold much , they could even erase complete landmasses from the map!

But then again as much as absurd it sounded , it might be... true.

Although in theory one could aborb only so much energiya in each level and tiers , it was also determined by talent.

Even when two people were in the same level , one could absorb even two times the energiya compared to one with less talent.

With that being said, on the other hand , the middle level in arcane arts was completely different. It involved creating certain pockets or grooves inside the fleshy structure.

This was to ensure more energiya was absorbed.

In arcane arts compared to movement arts , the practitioner needed more energiya to execute his art properly.

That was why ways for improving the amount of units of energiya absorbed was more concentrated in arcane arts than movement arts.

On the converse , methods for improving the efficiency and storage of energiya was more focused in movement arts.

For Bayezid , the amount of energiya he could absorb in each energy source was even unclear to him. The system didn't help either.

So after absorbing energiya for 1 hour , he then focused on breaking though the middle levels by moving the absorbed energiya to the desired place and commanding it to do specific tasks , for 5 hours straight.

As he was lost in concentration , soon evening came.

Night came soon as well , after Bayezid did the remaining tasks for the day.

----

The next day-

"Your majesty , watch your steps."

Jass said while seamlessly dodging Bayezid's moves that looked rusty.

"Are you even human, Mr. Jass?"

To the question , Jass just gave a bitter smile.

That was a question he wanted to ask to Bayezid!

No matter what , could one reach the upper low level of the first tier without any prior knowledge in one month?

That was completely absurd.

Kids took anywhere from 6 months to 2 years to reach that level.

Even for an adult with increased cognitive ability , it shouldn't take less than 6 months...

This was too when considering he was practicing both the arts!!

Bitter smile soon turned to a hearty smile.

"You sure are amusing , your majesty."

Jass stopped and dodged the diagonal slash Bayezid did.

Soon not faltering , Bayezid tried to give a sweep kick to throw Jass ' balance off.

Jass just jumped and while Bayezid's back was exposed he just hit him with the hilt of the sword.

Bayezid was knocked out and lay on the ground , huffing heavily.

"Hmm... your after attacks are very well thought out. But still as I said , your movements are rusty. You are not guiding the energiya efficiently.

Only once, you have mastered it , can you move to learning real abilities that deal in movement arts." Jass said as a matter of fact.

Bayezid just cursed in his mind.

If only was he allowed to use the ability given by the starter pack of the system... he could have learned the ability to maximum efficiency without even training!!

Now he understood how broken those transmigration main characters were.

But still... he had to put on with his training.

Yeah he could be strong in one tap but... what if one day the system disappeared?

Wouldn't the abilities and the knowledge it integrated into his mind disappear as well?

The very thought scared him.

He could buy awesome abilities and things from the shop.

He could earn the currencies required for the shop in many different ways.

He could gain points when he broke though a level or tier , when he killed monsters... or humans, when he took in a wife , when he had children , and in many different ways , that even Bayezid couldn't name everything.

But mostly the ways he could get money involved his dynasty and his strength.

But nevertheless Bayezid wanted to complete this training with perfection.

Even if the system was gone , he should know how to defend himself at the very least.

Soon Jass helped Bayezid up.

Both Bayezid and Jass were at the same eye level , if not Jass was one inch taller.

All the other knights and soldiers were at best modest height with an average of 5' 9.

Jass was a born warrior. As he was tall , it meant more muscle mass and potential.

As expected he was buffed to some extent but not extensively.

The training went on for hours and hours until Bayezid couldn't even stand up.

---

The days went as quickly as they came.

Bayezid was getting stronger day by day at a monstrous rate.

His stats now looked like this.

It was a relatively a simple interface. But the things contained inside was mind boggling.

In the current members tab , he could see the members 's information.

He could see their personality , their current moods and so on.

He could in future also change their entire existence but he lacked the ability do so...

The ability displayed here was different compared to normal abilities.

They were all abilities related to the dynasty in one way or another.

It involved the ability ranging from determining other's personalities , moods , to determine if the child he had was his , to see if one was in love with him or not and so on.

All of these abilities ranged from one star and two star and could be upgraded in future given if he had enough points.

These were abilities that came in his starter pack.

He could also buy more absurd abilities from the shop if he wanted to , but more or less the important abilities were already given to him and it could be upgraded...

So maybe he wanted to only focus on these abilities for the moment.

There was also a window that said he had unclaimed abilities.

This included the three star movement arts ability called The sparrow's way that also came with his starter pack.
