I watched from the window as Brittany jogged down the cobblestone street, her movements fluid and graceful. There was an unwavering purpose in her stride, a determination that was both admirable and intimidating.
"I hope she didn't recognize me," I muttered, the words barely audible.
As she disappeared from view, a cold pang of fear twisted in my gut. She was strong, skilled, and undoubtedly dangerous. If she had seen through my disguise, my carefully constructed facade would crumble, exposing the truth I desperately tried to conceal.
"I should go out," I decided, pushing away from the window and leaving the inn room.
The aroma of breakfast, something I had never experienced before, filled the lobby as I descended the stairs. It was a delightful medley of scents – spices, roasted meats, and sweet pastries. Humans certainly had a knack for crafting delicious food. It seemed to suit my palate perfectly.
