As if to confirm their worst fears, a ripple spread across the water's surface, widening outwards in a perfect circle. Then, from the depths below, pairs of glowing eyes began to appear, dozens of them, all converging towards the spot where the ice demon had fallen.
"There's... a lot of them," Brittany whispered, her voice barely audible over the pounding of her heart.
Alex squinted at the multitude of glowing eyes reflecting off the water's surface. He focused on each pair, his brow furrowed in concentration. "Ugh," he muttered under his breath, "they've got way too much health. Can't take them down in one hit with this."
He moved closer to Brittany, his voice barely a whisper above the unsettling silence. "So, what's the plan, then?"
Brittany met his gaze, her own eyes flashing with determination. "We take back this village," she declared, her voice ringing with steely resolve. "We fight them, and we kill every last one of them."
