Sunlight streamed through the window of Alex's room, painting a warm glow across his face. He stretched, the events of the previous night replaying in his mind – the boisterous welcome, the tales shared, the warmth of newfound companionship.
A smile tugged at his lips as he sat up, a sense of purpose settling in his gut. Today was the day he'd meet the village elder and begin his quest to become a god… well, at least establish a holy place.
He made his way to the bathroom attached to his room, the familiar sting of cool water against his skin a welcome way to greet the day. Emerging refreshed, he opted to stick with his usual attire – a simple tunic and trousers.
There was no need for extravagance here, not amongst these down-to-earth adventurers.
