"Well, a spare scanner can't hurt," he mused, shrugging his shoulders. Helping Amelia's parents was his primary goal, and any additional tools could prove useful.
Srek!
A rustling sound from the tent drew his attention. The fabric shifted, and Barrie emerged, blinking against the bright morning light.
"Good morning, how did you sleep?" Alex asked, his voice slightly raspy from the previous night's events.
Barrie stretched, a yawn escaping her lips. "Surprisingly well, considering the circumstances. That tent is surprisingly comfortable. Thank you again."
She started towards a water near the horses, reaching down to scoop. Alex's eyes widened in alarm.
"Wait! Don't drink that! That's just for the horses. I have clean water here."
