Chapter 9 - Dirty Job Done Dirt Cheap (4)

Taking another deep breath, Jin began to hold his nose, trying to filter out the foul smell that nearly made him puke.

'I hate this stench so fucking much.' Cursed Jin while holding back the pizza he ate back in the restaurant, now it was all coming back to bite him.

'I have no time, those fucking murderers are coming here… well, they are only going to meet another.' He looked into his ammo pocket.

'If I want to take on a Cypher like that, I need way more than this. ' Thought Talon while gazing into his pouch, he had a full magazine in his weapon with armor-piercing rounds, he was going to need this the most against the Cypher.

'I have another six of the electric rounds as well.' He was deeply in thought while the remaining six were running towards him.

"Well, fuck it." Said Jin out loud as he put the gun back into its holster while picking out his large knife from its sheet.

Without any further thought, he began to run towards the charging five gang members, he was going to face them head-on.

He jogged at a speed that would be considered incredibly fast by non-Cyphers, his status as a Cypher enhancing his already impressive pace, making him appear almost too quick for the gang members to track with their naked eyes.

Before any of the Cerberus gang members could react, Jin was upon them, knife gripped tightly in his hand as he stabbed forward at the first man.

"What the f—" the gang member tried to curse, but he could say no more as the blade plunged deep into his throat, causing him to suffocate in his own blood.

()

"What?! When did—" another one tried to shout, deep in shock from the shouts and gunfire they had heard from afar, rushing to the scene as fast as they could.

Their eyes filled with a mixture of rage and fear, but seeing their fellow members slaughtered without hesitation, the rage was overtaken by a deep, primal fear.

The fear of death.

Taking another deep breath, Jin moved again, pulling the blade from the attacker's neck and splashing blood everywhere as he advanced to his next target.

"Two down..." Jin said aloud in a chilling, cold voice.

"Three more to go," he finished, stepping forward again, his blade moving with terrifying speed, claiming another life.

Jin stabbed his blade upward into the next gang member's throat, reaching their brain.

"Two more," Jin continued, his knife moving once again, it's poisonous coating making no difference. This time, it was no longer simply slaughtering unaware sheep.

The remaining gang members aimed their weapons at Jin with the sole goal of killing him and began to fire.

"I can see them, I can evade them!" Jin thought, concentrating heavily as electric currents surged through him, most of them focused around his brain and legs, he felt a surge of speed, accompanied by a wave of exhaustion that he pushed aside.

He could clearly see the bullets flying at him, but their speed appeared slow to his eyes. The whole world seemed to play out in slow motion.

His movements were precise as he navigated through the hail of bullets, squeezing his body through the gaps elegantly.

The remaining gang members were staggered by the sight of the Cypher freak attacking them, his eyes full of murderous intent, knife poised to strike.

"Get away, you fucking Cypher freak!" screamed the nearest gang member, eyes wide with terror, tears beginning to form.

"No—" His shout was abruptly cut short as Jin's knife reached his throat.

"One left."

Bang bang bang

The sound of gunfire echoed through the construction site, but the chaos was followed by one thing.

Silence.

"Done," Jin muttered, standing motionless, the severed head of the last gang member lying on the ground.

He did nothing, just stood still, gazing into the distance as a wave of exhaustion caught up with him. He stared at the sky, watching the sunrise, illuminating the abandoned construction site.

The site was filled with the stench of blood, dripping everywhere, making him shudder in disgust.

Jin crouched down beside one of the dead bodies, wiping his bloody knife on the coat of the dead Cerberus gang member.

"One job is done. I still have enough ammo. I'll finish the other one, then I can take a break," Jin thought with a tired yawn, covering his mouth with the same hand that held the large knife.

He sheathed the knife and began surveying the dead bodies, looting them for ammo and draining their watches of their currency.

After he was done, he had gathered enough ammunition to fill almost ten magazines for his rifle. However, none of them were armor-piercing or electric charge bullets, making them useless against the Cypher he was about to hunt down.

"At least I found some explosives... these can be useful, but I don't want to waste them when I can take this bastard down with armor-piercing rounds," Jin said aloud, considering his next move.

However, as he made a single movement, immense pain surged through him. The wound where he had been shot twice began to bleed profusely.

Sweat beaded on his face as the pain intensified, but he decided to push through it.

"It's going to be better. This is nothing," Jin repeated to himself while heading back the way he came. Thanks to his holographic map, he knew exactly where his next job was.

Fortunately, the location was only about an hour's walk from his current position.

Dragging his wounded, tired body through the pain, Jin pressed on. He still had a job to do.

After what felt like an eternity of walking in pain, Jin finally neared his target.

His holographic map beeped, pinpointing the location—a rundown coffee shop. Strangely, his target appeared to be the only one inside.

Jin tried to maintain a good distance between himself and the target while he survived the perimeters of the target's location.

He only saw the target wear a large green hoodie, he could not see his hair nor his face, but one thing was for sure— that coffee shop should not be empty.

'Don't tell me…?' Jin hurriedly brought his watch forward, doing a life sign scan, there was not a single sign other than the the bounty target.

Then, his eyes caught sight of a single drop of blood on the counter. The moment he noticed it, he glanced around the coffee shop. Some of the chairs were knocked over, and the faint smell of blood reached his nostrils, causing him to scrunch up in disgust.

"You crazy fucker!" Bellow Jin, his rifle aimed at the Cypher.

The Cypher suddenly turned his head towards Jin. Though his face was hidden behind a smooth iron mask, Jin could clearly see his eyes.

Despite the significant distance between them, the Cypher looked directly into Jin's eyes, and Jin could feel the wide grin beneath the mask.

It was a sick grin, and the Cypher's blood-red eyes gleamed with lunacy and bloodlust.

'Cypher Psychosis,' Jin assessed. But he couldn't care less as he started blasting.
