`End them before they figure out about the ship.And you will be rewarded greatly-King Goliath.'
Arden finished `This is so confusing…' Cal said `We'll try and understand it later but we gotta go before that wakes up' Arden said pointing towards the unconscious dragon.Arden and Cal carried Dan and crawled out the window.
When they were out they started walking down the road.They then stopped at a beach
`He's probably got a concussion.'Cal said putting her hand on top of his forehead as if she were checking his temperature.Arden then laid Dan behind him on the sand`It did seem like he hit his head pretty hard' Arden agreed
`What d,you think the letter meant?'Arden asked`I'm not sure.'Cal replied knitting her eyebrows.
Arden opened the envelope and re-read the whole thing.`I still don't understand what it means.'
He said looking at the letter in confusion `What does it mean…like with the children of the earth,the shadow and the sun?'Cal asked `Cal,you do realize you just grew trees out of pencils back in the office right?'Arden reminded Cal `True but then that would mean that…you're the shadow child.'Cal told Arden `Remember you punched that dragon with an oversized shadow hand.' She said reminding Arden in return `Well in that case who's the sun child?' Arden asked.Cal's face then went from concerned to shock `Well it's probably him.' Cal said pointing behind Arden.Arden looked behind and saw Dan waking up.But instead of Dan's blue eyes his eyes were glowing white.His eyes then flickered back to blue `That was such a weird dream' Dan groaned with his hand scratching his scalp `Dan!' Arden smiled running and tackling Dan giving him a tight hug.`Hey, Arden.'Dan said ruffling Arden's hair `Dan, that wasn't a dream.' Cal said `Oh, and your eyes were glowing.'Arden reminded
Before they could discus more about what happened they jumped as they heard a woman's voice from behind them `What are you kid's doing out here without your parents?' said the voice.They turned and saw the voice belonged to a tall woman.She had good cheekbones, she had sharp features, her hair was dark and tied back, she looked about 30 and she had a mix of a motherly and chaotic presence `We're just um..'Arden said exchanging glances with Dan and Cal for help `Studying!We're studying.'Cal finished.
The woman looked over and saw what Arden was holding `Well it seems like your reading a letter'
She said crossing her arms with a smug face.Without warning she snatched the letter `HEY!' Arden screamed.His shadow then turned into a dark solid wolf with glowing white eyes `Hah, guessed it.' The woman said her face looking more smug.She then looked down and read the letter.Her smug then started faded the more she read it `You three follow me…' She said handing the envelope back to Arden `And why should we trust you?' Cal said crossing her arms and glaring up at the woman
`Yeah! Why should we?' Dan said `Because I can give you three shelter.'The woman answered
`And how are we supposed to know if your trying to trick us!?'Arden snapped `Whoa relax little boy!' She said backing up a little `We're the same age!'Arden said pointing to himself, Dan and Cal
`Look I'm just trying to help you three out.' She explained `You three are in obvious danger.' She finished `Uh, would you give us a moment?' Arden asked `Sure I'll let you think about it.'She replied
Arden,Dan and Cal huddled together and started whispering `Maybe we can trust her.' Arden said
`How would we know?'Cal hissed `Yeah, Arden how would we know?'Dan asked
`Look, I don't know either but she doesn't exactly seem…threatening y,know?' Arden replied looking over at the woman who was now building a mini sand castle, or at least she seemed to be trying to since the water kept breaking it apart `But we don't even know her name!' Cal hissed loud enough that the woman seemed to have over heard `I forgot to tell you! My name is, Patzi!' She yelled waving her arms in the air `See? Now we know.' Arden said looking at them grinning `Fine but if anything bad happens to us we'll be blaming you.' Cal said Dan nodding his head in agreement.They got out of their huddle `We'll follow you, Patzi.' Arden said grinning `Nice!'Patzi said smiling `Let me just find my ship…'She said walking around patting the air.Arden, Dan and Cal exchanged confused looks
`Hah! Here it is!'She said punching the air.They stood there with their jaws dropping to the floor in shock.In front of them stood a pirate's ship with huge white feathered wings.Arden looked around the beach, thankfully there was no one around except them, a weird lady and a winged pirate ship
`But…how are we gonna get up?'Dan asked pointing towards the ship.Arden realized the ship didn't have ladders at all `Yeah…that was a bit of a design mistake.'Patzi said squinting her eyes a bit
`Here I'll help you up one at a time.'She said she then turned her back on them.They thought her back was normal at first,then they gasped as big feathered yellow wings sprouted out of her back.She then turned to them `Pretty cool right?'She said giggling`Anyway, who's first?'She asked.Patzi scanned them she then pointed to Arden `You there shorter boy!'She said looking at Arden `Um, actually my name is Arden.'He corrected as he walked up to her `Alright then Arden!'Patzi said as she picked up Arden.Her wings spread and then she shot into the sky.Arden was screaming out of fright, he hated heights not just because his friends were taller than him but because he had always had a fear of falling from such a tall height.
Thankfully Patzi had landed onto the ship gently, when she dropped Arden she got down to his level `Sorry! Didn't know you were afraid of heights.'She said in an understanding tone of voice `It's fine.I fought a dragon anyway.'Arden said trying to sound confident `Sure you did.'Patzi said sarcastically
`I'll go down and get your friends.'She said before flying down from the ship.Arden had been trying to act confident and brave during the fight with the dragon but in reality he had been afraid especially with how big the dragon was compared to him.Arden had been so lost in thought that he didn't notice Dan running up behind him `Arden!'Dan said as he tackled behind Arden hugging him.Arden felt like he was being squeezed yet at the same time he felt glad that Dan was around him
`Hey Dan.'Arden sighed looking up at Dan `I was really worried when you were screaming up there.'Dan said with a concerned tone letting go of Arden `Yeah well I'm fine as you can see now.'Arden assured Dan.Arden felt someone poke their finger on Arden's back.Arden turned and saw Cal standing there `You two done hugging?'She asked grinning.Arden and Dan exchanged glances
`Yeah we're done.'They replied in unison suddenly the heard a bull horn and jumped.They saw Patzi
holding the bull horn `Please sit down over there before we take off!'She yelled pointing towards a pile of hay.Take off?Arden thought to himself confused he looked at Dan and figured he seemed confused about it too.They walked towards a pile of hay and sat down on it.Suddenly the ship started to rumble and the three of them held on to each other trying not to tumble `IS THERE AN EARTHQUAKE!?'Dan yelled over the noise of rumbling `Nope! Just the ship getting ready to fly into the sky!'Patzi yelled.She walked over to the stirring wheel and started turning.Arden held on tight to Dan since he was the closest meanwhile Cal was sitting cross-legged and just relaxing in general.The ship stopped shaking and Arden let go as Dan got up and watched him walk towards the ship's railing.Dan gasped as soon as he looked down Arden walked up towards him `What is it?'Arden asked he then looked down and couldn't help but gasp in awe.Soon Cal had been doing the same thing as they both looked down and saw how beautiful the view was.Above the ocean were a flock of small,colourful,bug-like dragons flying and swooping down every now and then to catch fish.Under the water were big bulky aquatic lizards stomping and eating seaweed meanwhile seals were turning into women then into seals again every time they jumped dolphin style.Though Arden didn't like heights he was very impressed by the view `Look at that!'Dan said pointing towards the ship's wings.
The wings were flapping with pressure.As they were enjoying the view Arden started noticing the sky was turning Grey `Hey, guys I think it's gonna rain soon.'Arden pointed out showing Dan and Cal the sky `I think your right.'Cal said squinting up at the sky.They gasped in unison and they backed up from the railing.The clouds in front of them were forming into three floating women they looked like clones of each other.They had dark greasy hair, Grey skin, sharp claws, piercing red eyes and they wore white gowns.Arden felt a shiver down his spine and felt like he was trying hard to swallow a marble
Then the first woman whispered to the second woman all Arden got was "Check if the winged lady is out cold."Then the second woman glided over to the ship's stirring wheel.Arden looked over and saw Patzi laying unconscious.He looked back at the first woman `Who are you?'Arden asked nervously
`We are banshee's here to take you to our king.'The banshee replied revealing sharp teeth.Without warning the third banshee lunged after Dan but luckily Dan managed to somehow create a shield by crossing his arms into looking like an "X" He looked shocked and confused but he held back against the banshee with the shield anyway.Arden and Cal on the other hand had not been so lucky.The second banshee had got back and gone after Cal scratching her with her claws Arden tried summoning something useful to throw at the banshee but instead he formed a rubber duck out of his shadow.He was confused at first but remembered he needed to be quick so he threw the rubber duck at the banshee.The banshee turned but instead got a fist to the face, thanks boarding school Arden said after punching the banshee unconscious `Fine! I'll do it myself!'the first banshee said gritting her teeth.She was bigger than the others and more sinister looking she then charged after Arden.He felt tired but knew he needed to be fast or he would be banshee soup.Arden had no idea what was doing but he backed up slowly lifting his hand.A wolf had formed from his shadow and made him feel weak.He fell to the floor his head aching in pain.He heard slashing and yelling but then it all went silent as he closed his eyes and went unconscious.
