Chapter 28 - chapter 28 the hug

####******###*****

As the full moon ascended, Emily and Leo ventured into the forest, the trees' silvery shadows dancing around them. They approached the witch's hut, its wooden walls adorned with mystical symbols that seemed to shimmer in the moonlight.

Leo's eyes narrowed. "What if the witch is working for Victor?"

Emily's gaze met his, her expression puzzled. "Why would you think that?"

Leo's voice was low. "Victor's influence reaches far. We can't trust anyone."

Emily's lips curved into a reassuring smile. "The witch helped me discover my powers. I trust her."

Inside the hut, the witch awaited, her eyes aglow with anticipation. The air was thick with the scent of sandalwood and myrrh. Candles flickered, casting eerie shadows on the walls.

The witch began the ritual, her hands weaving intricate patterns in the air. Emily's powers surged, responding to the ancient magic. Leo's eyes never left Emily's face, his expression a mix of awe and concern.

As the ritual concluded, the witch presented them with a delicate pendant. "This will hide your powers, Emily. But remember, the bond between you and Leo is the key."

With the pendant secured around Emily's neck, they bid the witch farewell and returned to the palace. The midnight breeze carried the sweet fragrance of blooming flowers as they strolled into the palace garden.

The cool air soothed their minds, and they walked side by side, their shoulders almost touching. Emily felt an inexplicable closeness to Leo, as if their bond had grown stronger.

Suddenly, Mary emerged from the shadows, her face twisted in anger. "Doing it intentionally, Prince Leo? Why are you with a maid?"

Leo's expression turned cold. "She's not a maid, Mary. She's my future wife."

Mary's eyes widened, her face fuming. "A misunderstanding? You're betrothed to me!"

Emily's eyes sparkled with mischief. She made funny, annoying faces at Mary, exacerbating her anger.

Mary's voice rose. "How dare you—"

As she turned to confront Leo, Emily hugged him from behind, her cheek pressed against his back. Mary's eyes flashed with rage.

"You're making a mockery of me!" Mary stormed away, her silk gown rustling.

Emily giggled, releasing Leo from her grasp. "I think I made her angry."

Leo's lips curled into a smile. "You enjoy provoking her, don't you?"

Emily's grin was unrepentant. "Maybe just a little."

As they walked further into the garden, the palace's secrets seemed to whisper around them, hidden dangers lurking in every shadow like a warning .

The torchlit pathways cast a golden glow upon the stone walls as Leo and Emily strolled side by side towards their respective mansions within the castle. The sound of soft music drifted from the windows, and the castle's gardens, once a tranquil oasis, now seemed to hide secrets and dangers.

As they walked, the moon cast an ethereal glow upon the castle, illuminating the intricate carvings that adorned the walls. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and the soft chirping of nightingales.

"I'll see you tomorrow, my love," Leo whispered, his lips brushing against Emily's forehead.

Emily's heart skipped a beat. "Goodnight, Leo."

They parted ways, each retiring to their respective bedchambers.

Leo showered, the warm water soothing his tense muscles. He donned a silk robe, his eyes drifting towards the window. The moon cast a silver glow upon the castle, and he felt an overwhelming sense of protection towards Emily.

Meanwhile, Emily showered, her thoughts wandering to the witch's words: "The bond between you and Leo is the key." She slipped into a lace nightgown, her hair cascading down her back like a golden waterfall.

As she settled into bed, Emily felt an unsettling chill. She cautioned herself to be vigilant, her instincts warning her of impending danger.

Sophia, Emily's sister, seethed with anger in her own bedchamber. Her face twisted in a scowl, she paced before the fireplace.

"That treacherous Emily thinks she can steal everything from me?" Sophia's voice dripped venom. "I'll never allow it. I'll kill her quietly, and no one will suspect a thing."

A knock at Sophia's door interrupted her dark thoughts. Mary, Leo's childhood sweetheart, entered with a sly smile. And she didn't care to know how she got in to her house coz it was her enemy they where talking about

"I've come to offer my assistance, Sophia. Together, we can bring Emily down."

Sophia's eyes sparkled with malice. "Tell me more."

Mary's smile grew wider. "I've discovered Emily's weakness – her magical bond with Leo. If we can break that bond, she'll be powerless."

Sophia's face lit up with excitement. "How do we break the bond?"

Mary's eyes gleamed with cunning. "Leave that to me. I'll ensure Leo turns against Emily."

As the night wore on, Emily drifted off to sleep, unaware of the sinister alliance forming against her.

In her dreams, Emily saw visions of darkness and betrayal. She saw Sophia's twisted face, and Mary's cunning smile.

Suddenly, Emily's eyes snapped open. She felt a presence in her room.

"Who's there?" Emily demanded, her voice firm.

A figure emerged from the shadows – Elder Blackwood.

"Emily, I've come to warn you," Elder Blackwood whispered urgently. "Sophia and Mary are plotting against you. Be cautious."

Emily's heart racing, she nodded. "Thank you, Elder Blackwood."

As Elder Blackwood vanished into the night, Emily realized the true extent of her danger.

The moon cast its silvery glow upon the castle, illuminating the shadows within. Emily knew she had to be prepared to face whatever lay ahead.

But little did Emily know, the greatest danger lurked within her own heart – a secret that could destroy everything she held dear.

The darkness closed in,
