Chapter 1 - Adelio Vincent

"Ugh..."

Loud tapping sound permeated into the woman's ears. She furrowed her brows; opening her eyes due to vexation. "Can you quit doing that?!" Out of annoyance, she sat up on the bed. Meeting a man under a mask across her. "Huh?" How the hell did she end up with a man?

As a further matter, he had a mask upon to conceal his face. What was going on here? The only query crossed her mind. "My apologies. You were taking longer than expected to regain consciousness" He approached. Causing the woman to curl her fingers into a firm fist.

At least, she could punch his stomach and run out of here. "Please stop before you commit a mistake, L. There is no escape from here. You are in my system" "Huh?" The woman hushed down completely. System? Did she hear him wrong perhaps? Perplexed, she looked around.

A white wall surrounded. The single bed she was sitting on and the man in a long coat who held a tablet in grasp. The situation sure was puzzling for her to understand right away. "What bullshit is that?" She spat. "You have died, L" Short and sharp, the man notified. "I am dead?"

The woman tilted her head.

Earning a nod back from the man. "Then how the fuck am I still talking to you?" In puzzlement, the woman scowled. "You are just a soul with no memories of the past. But I created this system for lost souls like you. You will be accomplishing five missions to go back to your life"

The man began to explain. The woman had, now, fallen into deep silence. Her mind considered of all the possibilities. The system thing she had heard before appeared to be true after all. "So, I am dead for real?" Her brows wrinkled. "Yes, sort of. But you can return if you accept my offer-"

"No" Without listening to the rest, she declined promptly. Stunning the man. "At least, hear me out-" "No" The woman shook her head. "I don't even know if I were poor or not. Why would I want to live the unknown life again? Sorry, I am not playing your little game" She scoffed.

Giving up on the opportunity, which left the man at a loss for words. He sighed. "All right. You will get your life back, including the ten million dollars. Are you in or not?" The woman's eyes gleamed with bliss right away. "Yes! I am in!" A quick change of mood shocked the man.

All she cared about was money!

"So, what do I do?" A bright smile tugged at the woman's lips. "There are five men you have to scam for millions. I am not sure if you are capable-" "Are you underestimating me? Before even seeing my charm?" The woman scoffed in disbelief as the man let out another sigh.

"Save your charm. And listen to me when I am explaining. Don't 'huh' me after" Beneath a scowl, the man retorted. Causing the woman to roll her eyes. "You are named L. But in different worlds, you will have different names, all starting with L though" He glanced down on the tablet.

"Your mission is to swindle the big shots. I have made a file for each man you will be scamming" He tapped on the tablet once, making a file appear on the bed, beside the woman. "You can check it later. If anything, you can call my name. It is Flavio" He detailed patiently.

"Flavio? Italian?" The woman tilted her head. Earning a nod. "I will just call you Vio. It is better" She shrugged. Making the man sigh. "I am transferring you to the first world. Don't scream" Beneath a scowl, the man alerted. Confusing the woman. "Why would I even screa- ugh!"

Everything turned white.

Almost blinding the woman. The migraine hit her as well. It was like a torture. Hurting her senses. Soon, L found herself sitting on the couch in a small living room. The man was nowhere to be found. "How dare he leave me behind without explaining everything in details?!"

Pressing her temples, L groaned. "I guess I have no choice" At last, she could only read the file to understand thoroughly. "Larissa Gudrun" As the man claimed, her name in this world began with the letter L. Larissa was a poor, sweet, innocent and orphan girl, working at 'Alo' company.

"Typical plot" L furrowed her brows over the play she would be performing. The man she would be swindling was the CEO of 'Alo' company, namely Adelio Vincent. He was a cold man who rarely interacted with people excluding the work field. The mission was quite simple.

To scam five million dollars. "Out of everything, why do I have to be poor and orphan?!" Clenching the file, L shouted in frustration. As the money lover, she disliked to play the poor character. "At least, I am getting five million after" To soothe herself, she murmured.

"The kitchen is beside toilet?"

In surprise, L gasped. The fact that she had to cook beside toilet was shocking. "How long do I have to stay in this bird's nest?!" And so, L spent a day inside her tiny apartment for the reason that it was Sunday. "There are too many ingredients but no snacks" L sighed to herself.

Based on the given information, Larissa preferred to cook her meals than having snacks or sugary drinks. "Please! I am going absolutely insane with this damned character" That night, L fried an egg and had it with the boiled vegetables because she had no clue how to cook.

The next morning,

L got up early to head to work. According to the file, Larissa was a hardworking new employee. In order to achieve that, she must arrive there first to show off. "*yawn* The bus is taking longer than I expected" From the early morning, L had a disappointed scowl upon already.

Despite the early time, the bus stop was crowded with people. At the moment, the Rolls-Royce car drove past the bus stop. Capturing L's attention fully. Her eyes were drawn to the luxury right away. "I wish I could drive to my work in that car" L sighed to herself hopelessly. "Wait..."

But then, the realization hit. Dragging the smile off. "That number... isn't that the big shot's car? Adelio Vincent?" A gasp escaped. "I am definitely sucking all the money out of him" All of the sudden, L gained motivation to commence her day. The plans had been drawn last night.

She just had to execute them. As her reckoning, the car indeed was the possession of Adelio Vincent. "Good morning!" Portraying her sweet, innocent character, L greeted everyone she met in the company. "Good morning, ma'am!" Including the manager, she bowed to greet.

"Oh hey!"

The coworker came to greet L who was making a coffee for everyone. Promptly, L took a glance. Mian, the friend of Larissa. She encountered Larissa at the interview and immediately became friends due to the open personality of Larissa. "Good morning!" L flashed a bright smile.

"You are already enlivened in the early morning. I envy you" Mian approached. "To have a delightful day, I have to be uplifted first!" L beamed over her own words as Mian chuckled. The acting skills she developed in a blink were amazing truly. "That's why you are Larissa Gudrun"

A mutter crawled up between Mian's lips. "Coffee with no sugar? That must be for our cold-hearted boss" Glancing down at the cup, Mian scoffed. "Obviously. Our boss loves the bitter taste" L returned a smile. Every employee was aware of their boss's cold personality.

Some respected him for that while some feared him. "I wish you luck. Heard he came in with a scowl this morning" Mian warned in a whisper. "Thank you for the alert!" Grinning, L walked out with the coffee cup in her hand. She, then, stood in front of the boss's office. "It is time to play"

A smirk tugged at her lips.

"Boss, I have brought a coffee for you" Knocking on the door twice, L reported. The door unlocked after Adelio pressed the button on his table. "Coffee with no sugar, boss!" Wearing a bright grin, L stepped inside the office. Her eyes scanned the man from head to toes quickly.

Just like the picture in the file, he had a sharp gaze. A pair of dark brown eyes, the slicked black hair, he indeed appeared like a typical male lead in the books. "Did my secretary tell you to do it?" A query echoed in the room as L's lips curved up into a smirk of amusement.

Look at him; eyes on the laptop screen, a slight frown upon. Clearly, making coffee for him was his secretary's job. No wonder he strongly reacted over the situation. Howbeit, this was the first step to draw the man's attention: to approach innocently without any ill intentions.

"No, boss. But your secretary has yet to arrive. I assumed you might want to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. Did I cross the line perhaps?" Furrowing her brows to reveal the innocent frown, L retorted with a question. It was the moment Adelio's eyes lifted from the screen.

His gaze locked with frightened eyes of the woman. She appeared to be afraid, quite much. "Leave it there. You don't have to next time" Promptly, he focused on his laptop screen again. Causing L to grit her teeth. How come he was playing so hard to get? "I am sorry, Sir"

Till the end, L performed well.

But as she headed out, her eyes glinted.

"Looks like I need another way"
