Shane groaned as his eyes fluttered open, his room dark and the heavy curtains had not been opened, just how he liked it.
He stood up from the bed after checking the time and realizing he was late; he moved through the dark room, navigating his way like he had done a thousand times—that's until his legs kicked the table, which stood in his way, and he muttered curses under his breath. That was until he paused when he heard a feminine gasp.
"Shane?" Sophie questioned softly and apprehensively, asking to be sure.
"Yes, love," he answered with a small smile on recognizing her voice.
"Why did you not turn on the light?" she questioned, this time accusingly, making his eyes widen.
"I'll do that right now. Don't move around; you might get hurt," he said as he immediately moved to where he knew the light switch resided and switched it on.
