The land turned parallel, a plain of green extending as far as the eye could see. The grass was tall beneath them. Butterflies of different colors perched on the vast field creating a scenery close to paradise. Elena had never seen anything like it!
Gabriel pulled the reins to force the horse to a halt. He watched Elena's stupefied gaze from the side, a smile lighting his face, a smile that reached his eyes.
"We're here," he announced, alighting from the horse. He lifted Elena effortlessly and placed her on the ground. The horse started eating the grass unbothered.
Elena's eyes were still wide in disbelief. Never in her wildest dream had she thought such a place existed, not to mention in the vampire realm.
She stretched her hands on the grass that nearly matched half her height. The butterflies took flight, the mixture of their colors creating a spectacular view just a few meters above her head.
