Just hearing their voices filled her with fear.
Chen Zhi really despised herself for being afraid of cats, it was so pathetic!
Now, anyone, even a child, could take away the two kittens and save her from this misery. But the problem was, no one would know she was locked up here.
The kittens seemed addicted to meowing, constantly crying out, one after the other, in unison.
Chen Zhi finally understood why Si Ye had left two kittens in the room, because one cat alone wouldn't make much noise, but two could call to each other.
She covered her ears, but she could still hear their cries.
Suddenly, a soft object jumped onto the bed and then onto her back, making Chen Zhi's body stiffen.
"Meow—"
"Ah—" She abruptly stood up, threw off the blanket, and flung the kitten off of it.
"Thud!" The kitten hit the floor hard, making a moderate sound.
"Meow—" Then a shrill cat's cry rang out, sinister and horrifying, making Chen Zhi's scalp tingle.
