"He abdicated, wife." Tobin interrupted her. "Abdicated. King Edward Devon of Islia is no more. He's now…well, actually I don't know what he is now or what wants to be called."

Celia folded her arms as she rolled the idea around in her mind. Indeed, what did one call a king who willingly stepped down from the pinnacle of their power?

Unless he hadn't willingly stepped down and had been pushed…

Celia gulped. She knew her grandfather and father had always had a volatile bond, probably because they were similar in a lot of ways. It would pierce her heart to know her father had forced her grandfather off the throne.

Especially because it was common knowledge that decades ago, King Edward had done the very same thing to his own father. And that old man had allegedly died of a broken heart soon after.

"So now what?" she asked.
