"But Your Highness! You can't just barge in there without a previous appointment! You'll be disturbing His Majesty's rest."
"Is he asleep? Given you've just seen him yourself, is he in bed with his eyes closed?" Celia gave the physician in her path a flinty eyed glare.
"Well, no…" the old man had to concede. "Nevertheless-"
"Nevertheless nothing. He's awake." she replied pertly. She had been arguing with the physician at the king's door for several minutes and she was well and truly over it. "Has he barred me from entering his chambers?"
"Not you specifically, Your Highness. But he said he didn't want to be troubled by court trifles-" The physician was starting to sweat from nerves along his hairline.
"The business of his kingdom is not a trifle. And neither am I. I'm his well beloved daughter, am I not?" Celia gave him a dangerous smile, daring him to contradict her.
